It is possible that when you cut the onion, you don't usually cut off the root or bottom of the onion when you peel it. By leaving it intact, you can avoid the 'heat'.
Or you may also be wearing contact lenses, which protect your iris from the enzyme released into the air once the onion is cut.

The onions need to squirt their juices into the air and your eyes need to be unprotected. So, if the onions are 1) cold, 2) wet, and/or 3) far enough away from you, and/or you are wearing contacts, glasses or goggles, then they shouldn't affect you to the point of your tearing up when peeling them.

you must be very good at peeling them,
onions only have one part that makes you cry,
the bottom of the onion so if you peel it and not cut the bottom untill the very end, and throw it straight away, you wont cry.
you must be doing that or you are very lucky.
and only white onions make tyou cry so if your cutting red onions then you wont cry

cause my science teacher said that if you do either you dont cry when peelinq onions;]
well lucky you; i never tried to peel or cut onions so i dont know if i tear..

any chance you wear contact lenses?? another theory is, i gather you are peeling the onions in the same place in your kitchen, the ventilation could be drawing the vapour away from where you are working

for some people the onions are not strong enough to make you cry also do you breath from your mouth when peeling them? if you do then it wont make you cry.

either you peel onions alot and are therefor immune to it (the immunity wears off after about 3 days) or your just natrurally immune.

there are only certain onions that will make your eyes water, like I think white, or plain, but not red. Not sure about the colors, but sure about everything else.

you may be immune to the effect, it may be the type of onions you are peeling..
