My employer issued me a vehicle to use to get to and from work, this was not a favor it was in the contact(I work Security). And this car had all types of things wrong with it. Brakes sqealed, front tires are bald, rear tires not much diffrent, the windshield wipers didnt work, so with all these things wrong with the car I cant believe my employer would make me drive this thing....in the snow(with chains at least). so what I am asking is, when you run a fleet of cars dont you have an obligation to make sure they are safe to drive in all weather conditons? and this isnt just one car most of the cars in the fleet are like this. I could write up a laundry list of things wrong with these cars, and if I am not the only one that thinks this is wrong who can I contact to let them know my employer is making his employees drive unsafe vehicle? thanks for your time.

Here in the UK you cannot be forced to drive an unroadworthy vehicle. If they try to then that, in itself is against the law. If you take the vehicle out and you are pulled over for vehicle defects then YOU as the driver will get the ticket.

If you are unhappy about the state of your vehicles then I might suggest. That you contact somebody superior to your employer, or maybe your local DMV . You could always speak to police or sheriff. If all else fails then speak to a lawyer, I'm sure you'd have a good case

It is not legal to drive a vehicle that has bald tires or to allow a vehicle you own to be driven with bald tires. There are two legal issues. One is the violation of state law that prohibits that vehicle from being driven (including for pleasure) if it does not certain requirements. The other is an employer's obligation to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

I had a similar problem in Washington state and contacted the state department that oversees workplace safety. Like OSHA does for the Fed. They had me drive the vehicle to their office and an inspector came out and looked at it. My employer was not notified because I didn't follow thur with a complaint.

Be aware that you may get fired, even though you are protected by law, it would be a long legal process to get compensation.

turn him in... Call L&I and report that you are required by contract to drive these cars but they are unsafe to do so and by law he has to make sure they are safe and serviced. I'd be looking fo a better job because who knows what other unsafe things he is doing.... give me the company name I'll turn him in so you dont have too.

I think you can refuse to drive it, due to the unsafe condition.
Also If you were to get stopped by the police, it is you who would be in trouble for driving an unroad worthy car.
Good luck.
