I just moved into my new flat, but I have to go up state for a 3 day busniess trip. I cannot afford to keep her in a boarding house so the only option is to keep her in her cage for 3 days straight. Now yes the cage is very small for the dog, (it will have only 7 inch's extra moving space, but I could leave a big pile of food in her cage and lots of water. What do you think?

no no no no no, can i say that enough ? That borders on animal cruetly. This will be very negative for the dog, if you lock it up in a cage and leave for three days, that dog will never like the cage again, and will be fearful of it.

2nd of all, where is it going to go to the bathroom? If its already a small cage you cant leave it locked up in there and have it to sleep in her feces or possibly have it get mixed in with her food.

She may bark and bark and someone could call the cops on it and the dog may be found locked up alone in a house in a cage and you could get fined for animal curelty.

Please Please Please do not do this, its just wrong. Get a neighbor to come by and check on it, or have a family member look after it, there has to be another option. What if something happens with YOU on the trip and you get delayed or something and dont come home on time, not good.

dont leave the dog in a cage.

If you don't know the answer to this question then you should not be a pet owner.

If you can't afford to board your dog for only 3 days, what will you do if your dog gets sick and you cannot afford the vet bills? Vet bills are a lot higher than boarding costs. Perhaps you should think over whether you should even have a pet.

Sad. I wouldn't even leave my GERBILS alone for 3 days, none the less a DOG. Even if your dog had full run of your house it would still be neglect.

NO. This is not ok. You cannot leave a dog alone for 3 days. If you "have to" do this, you should not have a dog. Part of the expense of having a dog is boarding it or paying for a dogsitter while you are away. If you can't afford that, give up your dog immediately and never get another one.

If you're going on a business trip, presumably you have an income. My guess is you could afford to board her but are too cheap.

I can only hope that you aren't serious! Your dog can't stay in a cage for 3 days! 1st of all it's too small, 2nd it will have to go to the bathroom so it will end up sleeping in its own feces, which is not only cruel, but being forced to do so will probably mean that this dog will never be housetrained again. With the dog not being house trained you won't want it, you will end up surrendering it, then no one else will want it because it's not housetrained, then it could be killed at the shelter because the don't have endless funds or room. If you are seriously considering doing this, why don't you either just give your dog to a NO KILL shelter now, and prevent it from losing its housetraining or just give me your dog as you obviously aren't perpared for the responsibilities that come along with dog ownership!

No. Is there not a friend or family member or neighbor that could take care of your pet while you are away? And if you are going away on a business trip....is it work related? if it is I am sure that you have funds to keep your dog at a boarding house, because your trip should be paid for by your company. If your business trip is for pleasure.....shame on you. How would you like being confined in a cage for three days and nights to wallow in your own feces, with no fresh water. What you are suggesting is humane to your little dog. My opinion is please don't do it.

You must be kidding, right?
Where would the dog go to the bathroom?
If you do this, when you get back, expect the dog to not only be matted and covered in it's own poop and pee but it's attitude toward you could also be effected. Most animals would be mentally messed up to have to sleep and eat in their own waste for 3 days.
I wouldn't love you if you did this to me.
This is a 3 day trip. Give up your pet if you're not prepared to take care of it and are forced to travel for your job.
Lock it in the bathroom if nothing else. Just know you'll have to bleach everything when you get back. It may scratch up the door and chew on things so you'll loose a security deposit but I fear if you left it in that horrible cage you could end up in jail if someone reported you...by the way...
Where do you live???

ARE YOU FREAKIN' INSANE?!?! How would YOU like to live in a closet for 3 days? Oh sure, you would have food and water but would you poop and pee in there?! I agree with others--if you can't do better than this for your dog, then you don't deserve one.

If you absolutely can not get anyone to come pet sit or let your dog out, then perhaps you can block off your kitchen so your pet can stay in that area with food and water. Also, place newspaper on the floor for her to do her business on. If you can't block it off then just let her have run of the house knowing that she will have messed. And if you decide to go this route, don't be mad at her for doing her business in the house. I can just see you beating the poor animal because she pooped while you were away! And, leave a radio or TV on for her--geez! I can't believe you would even consider leaving her in her kennel for 3 straight days!

And another thing; there are hotels that will allow pets.

I think either you're a troll asking really stupid questions, or you should be put in the cage for 3 days and your dog sent on the business trip because obviously she's WAY smarter than you are. If you're seriously asking this question, go online and look for pet sitters. They're cheaper than kennels and will make sure your dog is ok. When you get back, if you really were serious, find a home for the dog, you don't deserve it

I would think anyone would know the answer to this is NO! Where would the poor thing have to go to the bathroom?

Get a friend or relative to look after the dog.

If you leave it in the crate after a while it's going to start to bark and whine. Neighbours will complain. Animal control will break in and bingo you are charged with animal abuse. The fine will be much more than 3 days bording. It may even land you in a cage of your own in prison!

Absolutely not, why did you get a dog if you can not afford to properly care for the dog, do you have any common sense, were would the dog go to that bathroom, or what if it ran out of water and food. This is cruel and you need to find a neighbor or someone to look after the dog.
