Wear a bracelet and when you feel like biting them, slip it off and play with it. Put nail varnish on and when you get the urge to bite scrap it off again with your fingers or the edge of your teeth. Find something to do, take up crochet or knitting or doodle on a piece of paper! Keep your hands busy busy busy and if that doesn't work see a professional!

I do this as well. Try and find something to distract you from chewing your skin around your nails. Pop to your local chemist and ask them for advise as well. Stop and grow doesn't really help. good luck!

Put a rubber band around your wrist and everytime you start to chew, snap that rubber band(make it hurt a little) Sounds silly but I know people who have quit smoking this way.

i do the same thing sometimes. it helps me to go get my nails done so instead of biting my nails or biting my skin i play with the nails or pick at them to keep them clean and looking nice. i hope that made sense. good luck.

Slap hand cream all over your hands and nails every time you think about it - reminds you when you taste it not to nibble and it will help heal what you have already done faster.

My husband likes to blow his nostril without tissue. sure, he blows he nostril in his hands. No important snot, yet boogies do be flying. That to me is easily disgusting and that i often carry tissue because of this. His for me might in all probability be smoking.
