Why would you want to buy a PS3 without the Blu-Ray? All of the PS3's have built in Blu-Ray.

It's not like the Xbox 360 where there is a separate attachment for it, it's already built into the console. Also, all of the PS3's can play Blu-Ray DVD's, regular DVD's and CD's.

The 40GB PS3 would be a good option, the only downside is that it can't play PS2 games.

PS3 games are Blu-ray discs, so getting a PS3 without it would make for a rather large and expensive DVD player or brick.

The only reason major reason to get an 80GB model over a 40GB model is if you "need" backward compatibility with PS3 and PS1 games.
