There were five original churches in Jerusalem, Alexandria, Constantinople, Antioch and Rome. This was the original Christian Church started on the day of Pentecost. In 1054, Rome split away from the other four churches. Rome became the Roman Catholic Church. The other four became the Orthodox Catholic Church. Each claims to be the original.

Christians were first called Christians in Antioch.
