Why not put several puddings out? Other people may like Christmas Puddings. Why not have mince pies, a selection of cakes, fruit salad, jelly and ice cream cheese and crackers on a seperate table so that people can pick their own?

Christmas Muffins
A light finish to your festive meal. A great alternative to a heavy plum pudding!
Serves ...well it makes 18 muffins
Degree of difficulty: Medium
Preparation Time: 15 minutes.
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
You need:
1 cup dried fruit medley
1/2 cup prunes, chopped
Brandy to soak fruits
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 cups plain wholemeal flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
2 cups grated carrot (no need to peel)
1 cup grated apple (no need to peel)
1 cup slivered almonds, roughly chopped
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
icing sugar for dusting
Method:
Pre-heat oven to 190C (just above a moderate oven).
Put the dried fruits into a jug and cover with the brandy (you might like to leave overnight if you like your fruit extra brandied!!)
Sift dry ingredients (except the coconut) into a large bowl.
Drain the fruits and reserve the brandy. Toss the dried brandied fruits in the dry ingredients until well coated. Add the coconut, carrot, apple and nuts and stir well. Add the eggs, oil, vanilla and reserved brandy and stir until combined.
Spoon into deep muffin pans and bake for 20 minutes.
Serve dusted with icing sugar
Serving Suggestion: Serve with a brandy custard.
Leftover Potential: Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Stollen, or rice pudding with currants, as in Denmark. Or, sweet saffron rice, or tiramisu. I find Xmas pudding too heavy anyway, so I would go for a sorbet to refresh the palate ready for the high tea, 30 minutes after you fnish clearing up lunch.

Pavlova is a light tasty pudding that can be bought from any shop is you are not a good cook. I would recommend buying extra fruit to put on top because shops tend to add more cream because its cheaper!
hope that can help you : )

How about mince pies?
Alternatively, how about something like a tiramisu?
Or, you could do a chocolate mousse, usinf nothing more than half a dozen eggs, a pound of chocolate, a pint of cream and some brandy/whisk(e)y/liqueur.
