Any debt that has gone to collections can go on your credit report. However, they are not viewed by many as seriously as other bad debts because, I suppose, being ill and needing medical treatment is not always something you have "control" of.

That is incorrect. A medical charge is a valid bill, and you are expected to pay it as you would any other. If it goes to collection, it will show on your credit report the same way would any other bill sent to collection.

There are a lot of myths out there about medical bills and charges. You've heard one of them.

The previous posters are correct in saying that medical bills can report.

Because of the medical privacy laws, if the medical accounts are reported, the medical accounts "must" be coded correctly to simply show it as a medical account.
They are not allowed to report the type of medical service or the name of the medical provider.

Not true since Congress gifted the creditors during the 2005 Bankruptcy Reform Act.

Medical bill and utilities now directly affect your credit.

Remember your congressman & representatives at election time.

Whoever told you that was seriously taking you for a ride. Why wouldn't they do on your credit report? They just show that you are even more ungratefully and deadbeat to those who help you with your health and financial purchases. Why don't you start taking some responsibility and stop crying like a child
