The idea of God was not a lie but a device of the unconscious which needed to be decoded by psychology.

A personal god was nothing more than an exalted father-figure: desire for such a deity sprang from infantile yearnings for a powerful, protective father, for justice and fairness and for life to go on forever. God is simply a projection of these desires, feared and worshipped by human beings out of an abiding sense of helplessness.

Religion belonged to the infancy of the human race; it had been a necessary stage in the transition from childhood to maturity. It had promoted ethical values which were essential to society.

Now that humanity had come of age, however, it should be left behind. [A History of God] -Freud

It sounds like your mind is pretty well made up of what your belief about God is. So are you wanting hard core proof that God exist or are you just wanting to debate?God said in His word (The Bible) that there would be people like this. Mockers and scoffers,if you will, as according to 2 Peter 3:3-7 scoffers who are also called ungodly will meet destruction and judgment in those last days. Whether I give you proof of the things God has done in my life or in any other persons life, I don't think even this will be enough evidence for proof of Gods existance.
God is definitely real. He created all you see and everything you touch and hear. He loves us all and doesn't want anyone to perish but have ever lasting life. God created us and this world we live in out of nothing.
If people don't want to believe all this thats ok. I am not trying to change their mind but only debate. God is the only one that can convince them. Look at it from this perspective. People continue to live their lifes in disbelieve and just live according to the way the world does, good times, bad times and so on throughout their life and I live mine according to what God has given me in salvation and love, serving Him daily as best I can and believing in Him totally and uncondtitionally. When we all die one day if they were to be right then they lived the best they wanted and I lived the best I believed, but if they are wrong, when I die I will be in Heaven with Jesus (the Son) and God (the Father). But people, because of their unbelieving hearts will not enter Gods Rest (Heaven) Hebrews 3:7- Hebrews4:13. Sounds kind of scary doesn't it? If you think of the baddest thing that has ever happened to you and intensivied it 1000 times that would only begin to scratch the surface of the way hell will be. However, if you think of the best thing ever imaginable and intensivy it 1000 times that would only begin to scratch the surface of Heaven. So, I hope that I have answered you question in an inteligent way that is satisfactory to you. If God is left behind you will be left behind.

So the first question should be how the God can be identified with? What are Its attributes? What is God and what not is God? What are the Means and Test Conditions for Knowing God? Are these conflicting scriptures are of some substance or not?

The people who can be called intellectuals or pandits argue very much. But ultimately people are pulled towards Godhood because of some kind of Experiences. If spoken plainly I think in matters of Faith experiences are the guidelines. One great question raised by many is that how can we say for sure that whether this so called Omni Potent God exist or not? There are some counter arguments also regarding this question. For example, Can you say for certain, the Omnipotent God do not exist at all..?

How can the Science achieve ‘Super Conductivity’ (the state of zero resistance for passing electricity – meaning zero loss of power in conduction) in the present age? The answer is that bring down the temperature of materials to -273 deg. C (or to what is called Absolute Zero Temperature). Since this is not possible out of the laboratory test conditions, can we say ‘Super Conductivity’ does not exist at all. They are experienced by a few Scientists who had the imagination to assume that, if with a reduction of temperature, a slight increase in conductivity is possible for the materials in our ambient conditions there should be some temperature at which zero resistance or ‘Super Conductivity’ should happen and these scientists walked in that path creating the test conditions to realize that it is True.

Similarly with some of our prayers to God (usually when in distress), when we see happening of a few things around, we also start our assumptions just like those scientists. Can there be a possibility for an Omnipotent God? Sometimes too much blind dependence on some theories do make us neglect the variations in our own Experiences. For example, some of those latest findings in Neurology saying the oneness with world ie felt by a few during prayers and meditation are because of some natural choking of nerve systems within. But then, what about the changes felt in the outer Gross World because of the Prayers. Then the usual word coined is Coincident. Then what about Repetition of Co incidents? This leads to a Bigger Question – “What are those Test Conditions under which Omnipotence of Godhood is felt?” Now the plane is changing to Agnosticism, Spirituality, Religions etc etc. The Science try to underplay it saying in a non scientific manner all baseless illusions because this question can not be answered or measured with the normal 3 dimensional ....no... 4 dimensional (plus the dimension of Time) scientific tools. Since the science back tracked from answering the above question, the religions sensed their chance and with the taste of blood (The Power) came the various arguments. The disputes of Religions, the crusades of One-upmanship. Different people from different cults start saying by doing such and such things I have observed a reduction in temperature and hence felt some increased conductivity. I think in most of these cases some kind of intense prayers to the Godhood in some manner did change the circumstances both inner and outer for the individual.

Something like that said the comunists as well. Look at them.

The way you say it, it seems like Humanity would still be in the Stone Age, believing that the forces of Nature were gods.

Please, grow up !

Take a look at the manifestations that God has been sending through centuries.
1 - Let's forget the Bible for the moment, but we have the Sindone, the Holy Shroud, kept in the Vatican. Of course, it does not show Jesus birth certificate, but it has been under study for a century. People of different faiths have participated in the study and people of no faith as well.

It was used to cover the body of a tall man, at the time of Jesus, who suffered death in the Cross, was flagellated, shows puncture wounds around the head, and a wound in the right flank, a remarkable similarity

Also, the body was not for a long time in the cloth, because there are no signs of corruption. The marks left in the cloth were made by some sort of energy that scorched the cloth slightly

We have the tilma of San Juan Diego, in Mexico, with the image of the virgin of Guadalupe. The image was not made by any type of paint known at that time.

In the eye of the image, only visible with microscopes, we can see reflected the picture of the Indian, the bishop and some other people. That type of microtechnolgy was not available in the XVI century .

The Sanctuary of Lourdes, in France, where cures without medical explanation have been recorded.

In 1907, Dr. Alexis Carrel, who later was awarded the Nobel Prize for his discoveries in Medicine, was refused the entry to the University of Lyon because he documented the cure, in eight hours, of a female patient who was dying of peritoneal tuberculosis in terminal stage.

The patient was so severely ill, that they hesitated to take her to the baths, lest she could die in front of all the other patients.

But Dr. Carrel saw her healing before his unbelieving eyes. Later he wrote the book: "Pilgrimage to Lourdes" decribing the case.

The Dean told him that, if that was his position about the cures of Lourdes, he would not be allowed in the University.
Dr. Carrel answered that, then, he would have to go someplace else

Quoting from a sexually frustrated coke-addict is your first mistake. Very few, if any, modern psychologists embrace anything Freud wrote or ranted about. If this were an actual debate, I would've nailed you with a topicality argument and won the round by default.

Because the human race is still in its infancy and the way it is currently going it will be a long long time before it reaches maturity. So, by your summation religion is still very much needed. Peace

This is rantings from a man, No matter how intelligent Man thinks himself to Be.
Nothing he has come up with, has equaled the wisdom from Gods word The Bible.
When psychs get it right, and sometimes they do.
you can search through the Scriptures and Find the Very Same Ideal.
But of coarse man has an inability to except higher intelligence that would deflate His ego.

Don't believe everything you read.

Much of what is written is actually beings emptying their heads, relative to their own drama, trauma, unlove and fear.

Peace in the heart

If I did not personally know God, I would have abandoned any belief or following of Him long ago because He is not an idea.

the good news is we are getting there. The process may have been sped up by 9/11 and the palestine conflicts but also by the bush administration and the rise of the religious right.
You know they are really hanging on for dear life when they start protesting irrelevant things like the golden compass.
