Is that why the IRA never(intensionally ;) ) blew themselves up? My understanding is that both religions never really "spooned" with each other- but perhaps if this could be addressed the whole
world could be peaceful...or murder each other

I don't think we can say that the Koran sanctions suicide because it does say that he[or she] who commits suicide shall be condemned to live out their last act for Eternity, there.

However, what the mullahs and Imams use is the promise of an exotic Heaven where the "martyr" shall receive unbridled pleasure, which is what they tell the stupes who believe them and go on to commit suicide in Islam's name.

Pity, but these Muslims are not all quite there, you see; and they believe all the stuff that their mullahs or Imams dish out.

Well, pity is the Muslims are creating a situation where the rest of the World will eventually be forced to opt for preemptive action.

Peace.

Muslims do not reward suicide. If you have any proof from the Quran please produce it, otherwise, your silence is a declaration that what you've claimed is a lie.

I have many Catholic friends and usually we have very good discussions. I think that John Paul II did a good job, relatively, in opening up the dialog between Islam and the Catholics. Apparently there is a change in the trend with the next Pope who, as one of his first steps, paralyzed this dialog and caused a lot of anger among Muslims. I don't think he was doing that unknowingly. There is a change in the attitude of the Catholic church towards Islam, and my guess is that because they see themselves threatened by the expansion of Islam so their "defense tactic" is to polarize the world against Islam. This is the tactic of the weak and it will lose.

Peace-salaam.

To a Catholic all life is sacred for it is from God. To take that life, even if it's your own, is therefore to essentially slap God in the face with His gift and call it garbage. Neither kind nor intelligent.

To a Muslim the same is true.

To a Wahabist, (a Muslim extremist), however; since theirs is NOT a religion but a death cult, of course knocking yourself off is the penultimate nifty thing to do. The only thing better is taking a lot of others off with you.

And it's kinda difficult to punish a suicide. The dead aren't really amenable to punishment or to learning from it. We leave that part up to God.

Well, you see, when the Muslims speak of suicide rewarding itself they are speaking of those suicide bombers who martyre themselves for their faith in Allah. Thus, they are spreading the truth of Mohammed and it is rewarded by Allah.

Catholics punish suicide because they believe only God can take people's lives, as their lives are perpetually in His hands. Not doing so is wrong. This is not to say that there are not true martyrs of Christianity - however, they let others kill them in name of Christ - they did not kill themselves.

The truth is that suicide is bad because it takes away opportunities for the person to improve themselves. And if they murder people in the process that is simply evil - even the Quran says this. What God does to these people, we cannot say.

muslims do not reward suicide
if you commit suicide you actually get punished
but i do agree that if we were all to get along the world could be more peaceful
but that would only happen in an ideal world

I have many muslim friends and i know for a fact thru them that they despise these suicide bombings. In fact, they say the quran strongly prohibits killing oneself or any innocent beings. So I dont think there is any reward for it in Islam ..

I think they should reward such courage.

But blowing yourself up with 200 other people, is a bad thing and shouldn't be awarded.

Catholics don't "punish" those who commit suicide. We have compassion for anyone who reaches that state of desperation, and entrust them to the mercy of God.

You're thinking about self-sacrifice for the Islam cause, not simple suicide.
