Because that book is the entire basis of the belief. No proof, just a book.

True christians were taught to seek no one out and let the ones that have ears to hear and eyes to see and want to learn be converted into the faith.
Mere humans cannot convert anyone, this is why so many people don't like it when the witnesses knock on doors, your supposed to let the curious ask the first question and seek the truth. These are led by the Holy Spirit to seek out their identity and reasons for being, some answer the call some don't this is what the great harvest is about. Those who are close to the Christ know what I mean. Peace

I only use Biblical quotes when someone asks or if they twist a scripture. The rest of the time I will use a mainstream book, site, or news item etc.
I don't think I could convince an Atheist there is a God. Finding God is something you have to do yourself!
I will suggest you watch this BBC science piece and ask yourself ..In a universe this complex ..is there really no God.

And the fight continues. Why harp on what "hypocritical" christians are meant to do in life? I meet them everyday and they like to feel superior by blasting you if you don't agree with them. I will always be a spiritual person, no matter what christian or atheist attempts to force upon me. I was raised by a strict catholic faith but I am an open-minded adult now and I intend to stay that way. You too, will come across superficial humans who have chaos in their minds and blackness in their hearts and refuse to allow others to live in peace. Don't make this fight your fight. You have other wonderful things to share than close-minded non sense that many strive to convince others to have along with them. Christianity is alive as so Atheism is. Peace-out.

There are other histirical references. At the risk of wasting more time, they've been posted in here no less than a 1000 times, you atheists simply refuse to act sensible and believe what you know to be true. As for not quoting from the bible as a source, what would you like for Christians to quote from? Their car owners manual? Do you take your car to the bakery for a tune-up? Get real.

Why? Because Christians believe in it and it is where we get our knowledge. Why do some quote Shakespeare? Thoreau? Martin Luther King? We may not all believe in these sources either or consider them even insane thoughts of mortal men, but it is where some person has adapted to this thinking and says, "Hey, this guy makes sense. I may quote him so others can learn." At least the Bible is not OF Mortal Man. It is divine wisdom and I, for one, will not stop quoting from it.

There are no historical references that prove that a god exists. Maybe fundies believe that the Cat in the Hat and Clifford the Big Red Dog really exist, since there are books about them, too.

Because it is the truth whether liberal heathens like you want to accept it or not. You can take that "not everyone" crap to the hot place when God sends you there. If you are too blind to see that God exists then it's your soul that will suffer as a result of you arrogance.

I am a Christian, and I have never done this.
I wish everyone would just STOP trying to convince anyone of anything...atheism, Christianity, Islam, etc.
Accept and respect others' beliefs....or non-belief.

Because they are better at talking about it than doing it. I once told a Minister there was a problem with his congregation, there were no Christians in it. He could not say much in disagreement. Sadly most who talk about it, do not walk it. Peace
