A better "thing" would be a "coupon" for a few hours of babysitting so that she could have some time to relax. Maybe a couple of hours a week for a period of time. The best gift that anyone can give is time from the heart. If you give your sister-in-law some time from your heart, she will think that you are the greatest and your nieces (nephews or one of each?) will think you are the greatest too. There is nothing better for a child than an adult who is happy (or at least willing) to play with them.

Im only 15 so i guess it might be a different point of view than you want but here it is. My grandma died when i was seven and when she was around it was just me and my brother and sister. My grandpa remarried about 2 years later and ever since it has never been the same with how we are treated. They definitely favor my step-grandmas grandchildren more than us, and now my aunt and uncle have children as well. They don't totally disregard us but i only see them like once a year whereas my step-cousins see them once every 2 months or so. But Im just at the age where we let things like that go.. sorry if i didn't help but my story just kinda seemed similar and i thought it might.

i agree with jeanne, a coupon for babysitting is nice, so her and her husband can go out....even add 2 movie certicates to their local theater, or a giftcard to their favorite resturant

It would be, but she can't have enough baby clothes and maybe a scrapbook or something.
