I was told that photoshop would be really slow on the base model macbook and i would have to upgrade in a year, rubish How can that be! its got intel dual core processor and 1g of ram.

I think my brother has the base model... i only think though
and he has photoshop. I don't think mac would ever make a laptop that couldn't handle photoshop since they claim their computers are for the people who like to create stuff like art and music.

No, you should be fine. I have used Photoshop CS3 on both a MacBook and a MacBook Pro. I have a pro so that is what I am use to using. But when I was using the application on a regular MacBook, it seemed to be running at the same speed. When it comes to the speed of an application - MacBook and MacBook Pro, for the most part, will be the same. When it comes to stuff like how many applications you can run at the same time without it slowing down...MacBook Pro wins. MacBook Pro has more storage and not to mention the better graphics. When running photoshop, its nice to have a 17 inch screen. Compared to the rather small 15 inch.
But to answer your question - No, you should not experience Photoshop running slow on a regular MacBook. It can handle it just fine.

You were misinformed.
I have a Powerbook and have Photoshop CS 3 on it as well as Illustrator, PhotoDeluxe, all Adobe Softwares and they run fine with 512meg of Ram so more ram would make it run a lot crisper. Macs were developed for graphic use exlusively, so that means your information was incorrect.

Mine does it in basic terms high quality with a million gig of RAM and the unique twin middle processor. it could run somewhat swifter if it had twin middle 2 and extra RAM. yet, hell ... i won't be able to maintain up with it now. So what's the factor! people who inform you you choose all varieties of RAM and processor velocity are often pc varieties, who DO choose it with the aid of fact their structures are so heavily crapped up with Vista and different MS nightmares.
