age has a lot to do with it. Winston Churchill said " if you are under 30 and not a liberal, you haven.t got a heart. If you are over 30 and not a conservative you haven't got a brain "
Liberals attempt to solve problems based on their feelings and don't consider the consequences of their good intentions.
conservatives tend to think things through and think things through and think things through and th................. you get the picture.

I'd say that both are generalized, inaccurate descriptions used by political pundits and lobby groups to label and dismiss certain viewpoints.
By their lights, every "Conservative" is anti-gay; pro-gun; fire bombing abortion clinics; for big business; hates the environment; doesn't believe in global climate change or evolution; believes in the literal truth of the Bible; hates immigrants; distrusts all other races; supports the Iraq war; etc.
By the same reasoning, they label every "Liberal" as pro-gay; anti-gun; aborting fetii left and right; fire-bombing big businesses; tree hugging; climate alarmist; anti-religious hippies who would glad ship every American job overseas.
Neither label is accurate, and doesn't actually describe the way anyone actually thinks.
People are a lot more complex than any two diametrically opposed labels.

I'm sorry if this is biased, but here's how I see it.
Conservatives want as little change possible, because although they may recognize that the current system is flawed, they believe that changing it would lead to uncertainty and that therefore the risk should be avoided.
Liberals believe that we should work our way toward the best possible society, and that doing so requires change.
Conservatives, in my experience, also tend to be more concerned with order and financial stability than with personal liberties, whereas liberals prefer freedom to order. Conservatives prefer limits on taxation, whereas liberals believe that taxation is a necessity to have better educational systems and public services.
Conservatives are generally more in favor of privatization, liberals more in favor of publicization.

The Conservative mindset is about humans over environment, big companies over small companies, and tradition over change. Virtually all Fundamentalists belong to this group. They are also incredibly anti-abortion and against gay marriage.
The Liberal mindset is about protecting the environment over economy, small companies over big corporations, and change over tradition. They promote research, scientific literacy, and equal rights for everyone, including homosexuals.
