Along Mitchell St and the Esplanade you have a range of accommodation from relatively cheap backpackers through medium proced hotels to expensive hotels. There is a lot you can do up here but it is more difficult in the wet season because once there has been good rain, many of the roads are closed as are some of the sights. We have had lots of thunderstorms so far this season but the wet hasn't set in properly yet. It is also possible to get tropical cyclones up here in the wet season.

Darwin is great place to visit and you will enjoy yourself at any time. There is a young population and plenty of travellers. Just be aware that your activities are restricted from now til April.

Oh, it is also hot and very humid.

There is a row of hotels along the Esplanade. A few blocks from the centre of town.

What you do depends on the season. In the Wet (November to April) it is hot and humid. Unless you are used to the conditions it is hard to do much.

In the Dry (the rest of the year) there is lots to do. Although the temperature is in the high 20s - low 30s the humidity is low, and conditions are very pleasant. Kakadu NP, Litchfield NP, Katherine Gorges and other places around Darwin are excellent. There are markets, crocodile cruises and farms, the Territory Wildlife Park and a whole lot of othher things.
