Well, since your body grows when its sleeping and not when its working out, I'm going to go ahead and say yes. Sleep is probably the most important block to building a better body. Your body repairs itself while you rest and gets ready for the next day of exercise or physical activity.

Sleep is necessary for keeping a healthy body. Think about it like this, people who don't get sleep for at least three days become pretty cranky right? why do you think that is? Not only that, why is the human body tired when it doesn't get enough sleep? Not only is sleep essential in building muscle, it's important to get enough sleep for anything else!
*oh by the say, study shows that people with less sleep die earlier than people who sleep more* I mean not sleep the entire day sleep but just enough (about 7-8 hours)

Sleep is the only time your body really repairs itself - this process includes building muscle and burning fat - only if you've been eating enough protein and eating right...
A good 8 hrs of sleep is usually sufficient to help build muscle... less than that, then your body doesn't work as hard as you do!

Sleep is extremely important. It is thought that lack of sleep increases the amount of a stress homone in the body called cortisol. Cortisol will inhibit protein synthesis that is essential to building new muscle. Also, cortisol levels rise after any kind of stress that lowers blood glucose is put on the body. That is why many body builders have a high sugar drink immediately after a workout to help knock cortisol levels back down.

Muscle increases after the present musculature is stressed. This is accomplished as part of the normal life cycle; however, unless you are getting sufficient sleep and a diet rich in muscle-building components, your exercise regimen will fail. Eight hours is a minimum and nine is beter. Eat lots of healthy foods and avoid artifical muscle builders as you would the devil.

Yes, when you are asleep your body does most of its healing, and you gain muscle by healing the broken muscle fibers after working out. Also getting a better sleep will help you in the gym the next day
