You don't want to go to your own brother's wedding? It's not about you "hating all the wedding type stuff"....it's about being there for your brother to witness his marriage.
Please go!

In all honesty from my experience at my wedding I would suggest that even though you don't like weddings you should go to your brothers. I was so sad when my own brother didn't even congratulate me and my new husband. I really wished that he was there more than just there because he had to be. I understand not wanting to deal with the wedding hoopla but you can always leave early after the wedding, just make sure to congratulate them and then take your leave. It will mean a lot to have you at the wedding.

Sorry honey, you're not going to like my answer, but here it is:
GO ANYWAY.
This is your brother's big day... not just some distant cousin or college buddy, your BROTHER. I'm guessing that you're not IN the wedding- if you are, BUCK UP. Goodness man, it's just mean to back out if you're in the ceremony. If you really can't stand the notion- TELL HIM NOW before the day so he can make plans accordingly. It's just rude to cancel out at the last minute- imagine all the "ruined" wedding pictures (especially if you're in the wedding party and then it's all lopsided and such). Please don't be a putz and ruin your BROTHER's day. Talk to him and/or buck up.
Blessings to you.

I don't like weddings either but I'm having one because it's important to my fiance. It's not going to be a big wedding but he wants our families there when we get married so we're having a reception after going to the courthouse. So we each get a little of what we want.
This is your brother. Even if you don't do weddings, your brother is getting married and wants you to be part of that special day. Go to the wedding. Even if you don't like weddings, you need to show your support.

unless your brother did something terribly horrid to you you should attend his wedding! a few hours won't kill you so go!
if you don't go then simply send your regrets and a small gift along with a note saying you are sorry you won't be able to attend but your heart will be with them on their special day.
thats it! no sense lying and making up some silly story, it almost always comes back and bites you in the bum when you do!

That's a shame, that you can't suck it up for one day to go to your own brother's wedding. If that's the kind of sister you are, I say just make up any lame excuse, he probably won't miss you at all.

I think that you're being extremely selfish. It's your brother for crying out loud. If it was a distant relative or not so close friend then I could see asking this question but you should really feel ashamed for considering this.

Come on!
It's your brother's wedding.
Apart from being run over by a truck, there's no way to not go without saying that you don't care about him at all and don't consider yourself his sister.
What's the big deal?
Be there on this important day.

Do you love your brother? Then, you must go even though it isn't your thing. You can at least see the nuptials, and then you can leave early.
