i think the most suitable pet and easy to look after for a 10 year old are hamsters or gerbils are even better
gerbils are smaller and easy to take care of where as chinchillas and sugar gliders have nasty bites which a 10 year old wont enjoy :)
gerbils are realy fun to play with out of the cage :)

But make sure its ok with your auntie and uncle!
and remember if he dosen't like it.. It going to be yours.

I would say none...

Sugar Gliders and Chinchillas can be alot of work. Chins can also be long-lived - up to 12 years! He'll be a graduate of college then :)

Hamsters have the tendency to bite... They also are more nocturnal and so are more awake at night...

I always recommend guinea pigs... They are affectionate and easy keepers. They enjoy cuddling and cage maintenance every few days... The only requirement for guinea pigs is Vitamin C every day - in the form of veggies like red peppers and kale. Like us humans, they need Vitamin C to stay healthy...!

Whatever animal he gets, just make sure he has a vet picked out who is qualified to treat these animals... Some dog/cat vets do not see these smaller critters...so find an exotics vet!

Good luck!

Im not even going to go into how stupid it is for a person to buy a live animal as a gift, so Ill just tell you which one I think you should get him

A chinchilla plus all supplies comes to about $500, as with a sugar glider

A hamster, plus supplies goes around $75. Now, a hamster is MUCH easier to care for than a sugar glider, or a chinchilla, smaller, cheaper, very cute, much easier to find, and come in many different varieties.

I would not get a sugar glider, or chinchilla....would you rather spend $500 on a gift, or $75?

not a sugar glider...they require more work then a 10 year old can handle. That goes for a chinchilla too.
A hamster would be the easiest. Does he have funds to take this animal to the vet when needed?
I would also not buy a pet for someone else unless I was willing to take care of it myself when they got tired of it

Umm, hes 10 so get him a hamster because chinchilla and sugar gliders need more "caring" for then hamsters.

P.S. why not a panda hamster? there the best i got to of em one has a big white patch and the other has a big black patch :)

One minuite we observed it working around as regularly occurring and then later that day it only sat interior the nook not doing something (such as you pronounced). Then by potential of the evening time it replaced into high-quality and then the subsequent morning it died. i'm not asserting that your cousins will pass an identical yet i'm hoping he's arranged. i for my section desire the hamster get's greater beneficial xxxxxxxxx

Why not just buy the child a swarm of lizards.

Buying pets for Other people's children is very often a big mistake.

Why not ask him which one he'd rather have, instead of picking for him?? Since he's the one who will have to take care of it...
