The LD50 of ethanol is 100 mL (this means that a straight dose of 100 mL of ethanol would kill 50% of people). Alcohol poisioning is becoming fairly common today, especially around college campuses because of the practice of binge drinking. There is no fixed amount on how much alcohol will kill a person in a given amount of time because everybody is different. But, if your BAC reaches .5, you have a near zero chance of living through the night. If your BAC reaches .3, then you would show early signs of alcohol poisoning such as passing out and shallow breathing. If you're ever around a person who has consumed a large amount of alcohol and then passes out, keep an eye on them. I've seen many cases of alcohol poisoning and they never seem to end well. The treatment is drugs and stomach pumping (not very pretty). The general rule for getting alcohol poisoning is to drink large amounts of liquor (it's can be done with beer but people tend to throw up before they reach a lethal dose) in a short amount of time. The reason it occurs more easily with liquor is because only 20% of alcohol is absorbed by the stomach. The rest is absorbed in the small intesting. So when you take in a large amount of liquor, you feel drunk fast. You may pass out. But there is still a large amount of liquor waiting to be absorbed that you can't get out by puking. This is why you must keep an eye on a person who has passed out after consuming large amounts of liquor. You don't know if they've drank enough to get alcohol poisoning. Try to limit yourself when you drink and stop when your getting completely sh!tfaced. Don't encourage binge drinking. Showing how cool you are seems like a good idea until somebody dies or winds up retarded.

Yes there is and people can die from this.Usually teenagers trying to be cool and impress their friends will try this. PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS! I know of someone who lost their teenage daughter due to this. Every ones body handles liquor differently, but as a doctor explained, you get alcohol poisoning from consuming large amounts of liquor in a short amount of time. And even if you dont die, you can suffer from severe brain damage and organ failure. So its really not work the temporary "high" you may get.

Yeah there is. Depends from person to person, but I expect with 2.5 promille you could already have alchohol poisining. Maybe 3 shots of vodka could already be enough to give a young person very serious alchohol poisining, maybe even less. It mainly depends on your weight, and if you are used to drinking or not.

It's not how much, it's how. If you gulp it down, you don't even get high, just pass out in the street. Waking up is a toss up. You can sip, sip, sip away the nite and enjoy it.
