King Jesus is Gods gift to us? Why would religions say not to celebrate Gods gift to us?

laynda, are you a Christian & won't celebrate King Jesus birth? Just because some pagans celebrated December25th also? Why should that cause you to not celebrate Gods gift to us? December 25,3BC is also believed to be the date the star (King Jupiter) stopped over Jesus house. So? This isn't Jesus birthday, but the Magi gave gifts to baby King Jesus. http://www.bethlehemstar.net They thought it was OK to bring gifts.

FEZ, Pagan can celebrate Xmas for themself their way. They have that right. I can celebrate Gods gift to us & also family & also the spirit of giving & love. There is no law against this. Love, joy, peace, patience, etc... Only for the legalistic who are trapped in laws of religions.

mairzee, Santa Clause is just pretending. I don't get excited about Santa Clause. But I like the story of St. Nicholas. And now, I like the idea that the Magi did actually give the gifts to baby King Jesus on Dec.25,3BC when star (King Jupitar) stopped. Who cares if this isn't exactly Jesus birthday.

Me, I don't care if others celebrated Dec.25 for heathen reasons. I celebrate it for what is in my heart. I love God & I love my family. And remembering Gods gift is important too.

I think it is fair to say that one is not Christian if they have problem celebrating His birth. One thing is for sure if one is not for Christ, they are against Him. Jesus is God, He deserves the honor and worship from us.

Some religions simply don't believe in Jesus as the son of God. They believe in other mythos, like Buddhism (which doesn't have a diety), or Hinduism (which is polytheistic) or pagan religions like those practice by the indigenous peoples of the US (shamanism). Many of these belief systems have a 'winter celebration' around the time of the winter solstice. In fact, Christmas was celebrated around this time not because Jesus was born on Christmas, but because the new Christian folks of Europe refused to give up their pagan holiday, so the church proclaimed it the celebration of Jesus's birth and the formerly pagan people adapted it. I'm not trying to start a religious debate or anything, just giving you some facts. Just because someone doesn't celebrated Jesus birthday doesn't make them the Anti-christ. If that were the case, the number of Anti-christs would far outnumber the Pro-Christs. Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, Happy Yule, Happy Kwaanza!

No it doesn't. I am a Christian, I do not celebrate Christmas. Christ was not born in December. Christmas is a made up holiday that the a catholic bishop invented so the Christians would have something to celebrate when the Jews and Pagens did. Most of the christmas traditions are derived from Pagen ones

I also don't celebrate it because... especially as "Christmas" is celebrated in ways that are contrary to the lessons of Christ's life. We honor an overweight-middle-aged-white man who gives gifts to excess to barely deserving spoiled-materialistic children. the message he sends is, "if you "act" good right before the Holiday, then you will get material reward for feigning good works." Unless I REALLY mis-understood the teachings of Christ, his message was "do good works-look after those who others miss, or avoid- for the sake of DOING GOOD FOR GOODNESS' sake."
While there is much good that can be celebrated (and is by some) in honor of Jesus and his birth, most of the "celebration is based on Pagen rituals, and Western beliefs that "stuff" is what matters.... increasingly, there isn't any Christ in Christmas...

Because you are not to follow pagan beliefs and celebrating birthdays is a pagan belief. It's more important to follow God's law than to celebrate a gift. Jesus didn't even celebrate his birthday. The early church didn't do it either. If you believe he was a gift couldn't you celebrate it every day? If his real gift was his sacrifice of life then wouldn't Easter (Pascha or Passover) be more important to you? The early church and some churches still celebrate the feast of the wise men not really christmas. They also celebrate in January.
Dec. 25th is also Mithras' birthday. And I read a book years ago on astrology and it disputed the claims of the star you are speaking of.

I feel you are confusing a party day in the name of Jesus and the day he was born . no one can know when he was born and I love him soo much I dont want to pervert his life in any way and I feel to use santa and christmas trees makes him more of a fantisy then a real man who lived and walked the earth. If you think people enjoy christmas because of Jesus I dont think they do most people like to party and get gifts if you ask any kid if they would enjoy christmas if it was withouut gifts and all the ritutials of man then it they will say no it would not be as good. if you said ok this year we will just enjoy the day in Jesus name and pray and read the bible to learn about this man who died for us on the cross and why he is who he is you will be sure to get some gripes. I feel strongly most people would bohoo this idea. so you see If the day was not about us being boast full about all the money we can spend and more about our King Jesus then I would be in on it but as you well know it has very little to do with him at all. think about all the days that lead up to this one day do people have him in there hearts while out shopping or decorating I do think if I went to the mall and praised Jesus I would get lots of looks like I was a coo coo. what if I came ringing your door right now and said happy christmas lets talk about Jesus would you even let me in probably most will not but they will drag a big picture of santa in the house and hang it on the tree they just covered in tinsil

Birthdays were never celebrated by God's people before Jesus' time, and Jesus came to sacrifice his life in order to give us the privilege to approach God for forgiveness of sin and the prospect of eternal life. As Christians, we observe the memorial of Christ sacrifice and take time to appreciate it. Antichrists are those who claim to be Christ and those who oppose Christs followers

Where in the Bible does it say you have to celebrate the birth of Jesus , further more if you do celebrate when do you celebrate. There is no record known to man of his birth date. I don't think not celebrating the birth of Christ makes you Anti-Christ no more than celebrating the birth of Christ makes you a hypocrite. I prefer to celebrate Jesus Christ period.

you have much to learn young lady. That same day you call christmas, which is supposedly the birth of christ, is the same day of the old pagan holiday. Do you know what a pagan is? A lot of christians do not celebrate christmas because they know this.
