The physical food we eat sustains only the flesh, not the soul.

For a man to sustain his spiritual soul, he need spiritual food, the Word of God.

Yet, this can only occur if the man has been born again.

It is written that man cannot live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.

And as the questioner has stated using the Word of God, it is not what enters the body that causes the body to sin, it is what proceeds from the heart through the unruly member we call the tongue.

So we must pray always the Lord give us strength to bring our flesh into submission.

Both. What comes out defiles others, not just yourself, as opposed to what goes inside of you.

You really need a book to tell you that what you put in your body effects your health?

And you need a book to tell you that what you say is representative of your being?
