As a capable adult I have had to tell my parents to back off at one point or another. But I have come across others who are abel adults who parents don't have ant boundaries. For example:
Their parents have keys to their place.
Parents calling all hours of the day and night.
Parents comming over without calling all hours of the day and night.

It isn't the parents fault it is the adult child's fault for not establishing the boundaries and letting them do these things. They are doing those things because they can and are not asked to call before coming over, etc.

My parents (and everybody else I know) do have an open invitation to stop by any time, but they they have so far never done it and I certainly wouldn't give them keys.

Since they live pretty far away, my mum has actually only visited twice in the last year, and my dad once with my little brother and sister.

I am 19 and most of my friends are in their early 20s - I was shocked to find that some of them still have their mobile bills paid by their parents, and get cut off if they use them too much! Although my parents still support me financially while I study, they give me my annual allowance in one shot and don't interfere with what I spend it on.

My friends' parents also tell them where they can go on holidays, what classes they should take at university and other things that my parents would never consider to be any of their business.

I call my parents at least once a week and get copious amounts of advice about all aspects of my life, but never without asking for it. They would never dream of attempting to veto any final decision made by me.

This has been as long as I can remember - I have always made my own decisions and my parents have supported me, even when they didn't agree with them, like my having sex at 15, going to university at 17 or getting a credit card.

My parents are awesome!

Yes they know their boundaries.
I say to people come anytime you dont have to make an appointment"
Its different for different families.
If they dont want the above just ask for the keys back and give them the keys when you want them to ,so you have a bit of privacy

I have heard of this too. Its probably because they did establish terms from the beginning and now its hard to change the behavior.
