If god created all things both good and bad, then surely he/she must also be both good and bad.
Therefore god must exist within the devil and the devil must exist within god..!!

It's not God who is the devil in disguise. You would be nearer the mark if you asked is Man ( yes the likes of you and me) is really the devil in disguise.
God provided Man with two important gifts.

1st: Free Will
2nd: The tools to live together in harmony.

However Mans free will led him to greed and selfishness and instead of sharing out the worlds resources equally it has evolved that 80% of the worlds riches are now owned by 20% of the population.

As for your question about children tortured by diseases. Why does God allow it. The same question has been asked many times. I think Mother Teresa summed it up well when she said,

" God has intervened and created children to be born from the mothers womb to grow up and find cures to heal Man from many diseases, but unfortunately because they were not wanted they were murdered in the womb before they had a chance to be given the gift of life. It's called, Abortion.

It's not word for word but I'm sure you know where I'm coming from.

Finally, I'm no "holy joe" but I'm not that f^cked inside to blame the problems we created onto God, whoever you want Him to be.

It's a nice way out, pal. Do you always blame someone else when things don't go your way in life?

It is like the saying "If I don't see it, it doesnt' exist". But you have to find God yourself! Just because I see a homeless person, dishevled, smelly and clothes all torn, do I believe there are no barbers, washers/dryers, clothing stores? No, only that man has decided to not live the way I choose to live. So, if I don't immediately see God, do I believe he doesn't exist? I know God exists. I see not only the bad things in the world, but the beauty as well. Take a walk and look around you. Look at the vast nature and playground He has given us to live upon. Look at the goodness people do everyday. It is too easy to "see" the bad, instead of looking at the good, beauty and love God has given us. God gave us humans "Free Will". That means we have the ability to choose what we believe, how we act and how we choose to behave. When Satan decided he was smarter than God, and God threw him out of Heaven, he gave Satan the Earth. That is where bad things come from. Satan sets into motion the bad things. People feed the fire, so to speak, of bad things to happen. We don't really think about how our actions will someday effect the future. God doesn't give us anymore than we can handle. I know it seems rough to believe at the time. But like the song says, What cannot hurt me only makes me stronger! Things have a reason. We are not privy to know at the time it happens, but hopefully we will be able to look back and say, "Ah, I get it now"!

Ah yes - the theological question for the ages - and here at R&S asked only every five minutes or so - if there is a God, why is there war, disease, suffering, torture, pain, injustice and on and on and on???

I would answer in two ways - number one, I'm not so sure that in a perfect earthly paradise full of good and love and joy and happiness; where no bad or evil thing every happened - I'm not so sure in that kind of world we would have MORE of a need for God; to the contrary, I think you could make a plausible case that in such a perfect world, we would actually have LESS reason to believe in God.

And number two - there is a perfect world of no disease, no pain, no tears, no suffering; where bad things never happen to good people and where all things will be made right.

It's called HEAVEN, my friend - and just because God is not providing it to me here and now as I demand it on my time-table - doesn't mean HE doesn't exist.

It might just mean I'm too impatient!

there is not god in that sense and the christians invented the devil I suppose so they could frighten there followers into putting money in the collection plate. Children and others get diseases because like us microbes are striving to live and continue their species and the only way some of them can do that it to make other animals ill

This is a very perceptive question and one of the most common about the existence or nature of God.

There are three possibilities:

God is interventionist, answers prayers for "good" people and brings about wars and death.

Second, God is non-interventionist. He has set up an ant-farm here and will let things play out as they will and will judge us on our reaction to how things pan out.

Finally, there is no God and these things are diseases that are not punishing anything - they are just doing what they do.

Why are you hiding behind young children? As if your god was allowed to torture older children and other people?
Are you trying to impress me with your empathy?
God is EVERYTHING - Get it?
Good and bad. It is just natural. Where is positive, there is also the negative.

"Cleanliness is next to godliness" I read somewhere. Most illnesses can be prevented by keeping things clean. It's our own fault that the diseases spread. Our pursuit of the almighty dollar prevents us from staying home when we are sick so we spread germs or we go to a public area such as the doctor office or hospital or pharmacy (to get treated) and spread them even farther. Those with some pretty serious diseases spread them either without knowledge or without a care.

God doesn't do that... we do! Not to mention the labs that play around with germs, altering them and injecting them and (oops! one got away!) accidents in search of cures or weapons.

Before medicine, the sick simply died. We now have life-sustaining technology to torture the terminally ill.

There is no God, in my opinion. And if there IS a god, he is a nasty bastard who I would not want to know.
And yet...there are still people who believe he is all loving, all powerful and god is everywhere.

Uh huh...and the prince kissed sleeping beauty and she came back from the dead and they all lived happily ever after.
