I have 2 dogs from the same litter I adopted from a neighbor who was going to take them to the pound. They are half Blue Tick.
Baby Girl is dominate over Sarah when it comes to food but they play together as if nothing is ever wrong.
2 days ago Sarah stopped running, jumping, playing and eating. Baby Girl is as usual, trying to play , eats everything in site.
They are both about 13 months old and about 50 lbs.
Neither are spayed and neither have had their shots.
They are in a fence and do not eat from the table.
I have never had a problem with their food
I don't know what to do. I have walked around the yard to look at their poop but none looks out of the ordinary.
Something I'd never seen before yesterday, After Baby girl was finished eating she ran over and growled at Sarah to get her food.
2 days ago she was perfect. Now she walks around with her head down. I pulled her out and tried to let her eat by herself and she ate a hand full. I even tried to feed her a piece of hamburger and she wouldn't take it. I showed it to Baby Girl and she snatched it from my hand like she'd never eaten.
I felt Sarah's stomach to see if she would pull away from pain but nothing. She sorta lifts up when I try to touch it.
Now when I walk out there she walks the other way looking at me like I am going to hurt her.
I hate going through this again after I lost my favorite dog in the world last year.
Thank you in advance if you have Any info.
Bill

There is no possible way she is pregnant, they are girls and I never let them out without a leash.

please just take her to the vet get her checked out and get more proffessional advice. You could try giving them food in separate rooms to prevent one from eating the others. You may need to rehome on of them it could be intimidated and scared by the other.

There are many causes for the lack of eatting. There is also evidence of other things going on, by her not playing. Also, a puppy will show submissive behavior when they are ill. It appears as though you have a severly alpha female, who will "ruin" the spirit of the sick female. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO GET THIS DOG TO THE VET, IMMEDIATELY! If these dogs were adopted out, they are old enough to have their shots and heartworm preventative. I'm not sure where you're located but in some areas, Parvo is running rampant.
The only other things I'm going to say is to get BOTH of those dogs to a vet, because you WILL lose them if you neglect their health.

The cause can be a variety of reasons. I recommend first to take both dogs to the vet for a check-up, shots and spayed. The vet will be able to observe them and you can explain how they were behaving weeks ago to now. He will then be able to provide you with the best course of actions to be taken. Good luck.

I think you are very brave to let yourself love another dog again. When I lost my dogter I couldn't bring myself to look at another dog again.
About your problem, bring the dog to the vet. They're over a year old and have no shots. It could be a number of different things. One indicator I used with my dog was to check her nose. If it was dry then she is sick. If it's runny then she has a cold. Check the gum area too. If they are very light pink then the dog is anaemic. When the dog stops eating, then the problem could be very serious.
Since they are female, you could also check if they're having their menses. This means that they could be in-heat.
Good luck, this time around.

take her to the vet,its passable that its nothing much, you have had a dog before,so you would have wormed her,and done all the usual checks, try a light diet and give it to her away from her sister, when mine are off their food i boil rice and add something to, it tuna is favourite, add oil to their diet, this will prevent constipation and help keep their coats in good shape,it doesn't have to cost much corn oil or sunflower is as good as any.you have a dominant dog situation, try and become the top dog, put her away from her sister when she has a go at her, and make sure by your actions that she understands who is in charge.was she abused before you had her, I adopted a ***** that hated all the men in the house, it took over 12months before she was entirely at ease with every 1, persevere, it will be worth it in the end

I agree with walkiing lady - take the poor thing to a vet. And give her a gravol for the ride. P.S. I am NOT a vet. I do, have a dog and 2 cats, the vet has often said that I can give gravol, petpo bismol to my pets to help them when they are sick.

Not even a vet could diagnose this poor dog without seeing her. Obviously she needs help and it's your responsibility to take her to the vet ASAP.

Oh dear...
Yes, Sarah should be taken to the vet. It sounds to me like she might be sick, and Baby Girl smells it on her.
Meanwhile, both dogs should be spayed ASAP.
Good luck!
