No, they are not qualified to serve as clergy.

Homosexuality is a disordered desire and the candidate for the priesthood who is tempted in such a way has a great obstacle to holiness and purity.

It is a different obstacle than a heterosexual man. Why? Because the "straight" man desires something natural and good - i.e. a woman. Being celibate means that he is sacrificing his wish to fulfill this desire. It doesn't mean that sex is bad.

However, homosexual sex IS bad and always immoral, therefore it presents a wholly different and irreconcilable barrier to the celibate priesthood.

If you will closely examine the facts, the great majority of the priestly "sex scandals" were not cases of pedophilia, but in fact, of homosexuality. The majority of the "victims" were sexually mature teenagers, not helpless little boys.

No I don't. Living in the Oxford Diocese in England I was very sad that we didn't have Jeffrey John as Bishop of Reading. I know gay priests and most are lovely men of God. The issue, if there is one, is about how they conduct their private life.
Gay and Lesbian people people in my view can be qualified to serve as priests if they are suitable in other ways.
In my discussions with Christians I find that the division between those who think like I do and those who oppose gay and lesbian priests boils down as to whether you think that people choose homosexuality. I don't and I think the scientific evidence supports my view.
The bible is the greatest love story. It is the story of God's love for the world. Some people are men and some are women, som eare black, some are white and some are other colours, some are short and some are tall. Some are gay/lesbian and some are straight. God loves every single one of them and offers each on the opportunity to respond to that love.

Yes- Amen!
I think the no % should be much higher. This poll must have been in just one denomination-Episcopal maybe? I know 1 diocese just voted to leave the Episcopal church. Over all this is a very liberal group.

there is an AMEN right here. One can not prepared embody a sin, without considered repentance, and then be a church chief. the two are diametrically adversarial. God's be conscious is the final be conscious.

Actually, the Church teaches that. A candidate needs to be a wholesome and healthy individual.

Funny, a lot of your priests seduce little boys.

Sounds like they've already infiltrated your churches, but instead of just being peaceful homosexuals, they are sex starved pedophiles.

Yea thumb down the truth everyone.
