My ex and I dated 4 years. It started perfect, but during that time, he did not treat me well. Very distant, lazy. Neglected my feelings and needs.

HE broke up with ME and continued to shut me out. I was devestated. He had my self-esteem so diminished, I was lost. He wasn't there for me while I was hurting.

All of the sudden he calls to hang out-- I blew him off, and things are COMPLETELY different. He is being obsessive, saying I was his everything, he regrets how he treated me, I was the best thing that happened to him. Visiting, calling, letters everyday.

Insists that the way he was, wasn't the "REAL" him-- that he's been spending all of this time trying to change. He's very depressed. His mother called me worried, trying to stick up for him as well.

But I'm DONE with that. He caused me to be unhappy, anxious, insecure wreck for 3 yrs and I'm better off without him. I feel they have no right to make me feel guilty for not giving him a 2nd chance.

Do people ever REALLY change?

They can. Circumstances in a persons life can make them realize that there behavior is wrong and push them to change for the better. Right now your happiness is more important, if you don't want to be with him, then tell him so and end the communication. It was his loss, its not your problem that he didn't realize what he had when he had it.

Do People Ever Change

Wekk I wouldn't say it is people change in that aspect but they do grow up! Sounds like he realized how good he had it and knows that he screwed up! If you don't want to risk it again you certainly don't have to just tell him that you can't handle being with him again because of how the relationship was before.

If you decide that you would like to give him the second chance make sure you have a heart-to-heart with him and tell him your feelings and what you expect out of him the 2nd time around, and stick up for yourself. If he isn't treating you the way you want to be treated get out of the relationship. Atleast then you will know that you gave him the opportunity to see how much he has really grown up!

Good Luck!!!!

No. People's general nature never really changes. He is just upset because he can't have what he wants. Just like a baby. I have an ex who is the same way. He was devastated when I left, couldn't believe it. Now he lives in my basement. He still tries to hug me and I am disgusted. He will always be the same person he always was. Your ex is only pretending to make you think otherwise. If you went back it would only be a matter of time before he went to his natural lazy, non caring ways.

Yes they do and it is a shame he is realizing what a jerk he has been.Best thing to do is move on though so the lesson will sink in and he wont treat the next girl like he did you.He could also be playing up just to get you back since he has no one else in his life.Only time will tell if you give him another chance. If you DO give him another chance,I'd advise no sex, date a yr no shacking and see what happens, however,I wouldnt be anxious to trust him.

Only if they want to change and get better, no one can make another person change .

typical of guys to be like that.
something seriously hits him hard after all the wrongs he did.
golly...
but...
sometimes, people DO really change.
if you have feelings for him, go ahead, if all feelings die out, why go for it?
just do not regret making the choice(:

all the best!
cheers!
