My son suffered with Acne like yourself and he was prescribed Antibiotics. He was on these for 6 months, but the Dr did say that when he stopped taking them the Acne may come back,in which case he would have to go back on them.It may be that you need to take them for a longer period of time.Im sure your Dr will sort it for you.
Good Luck.

Do you stop taking your antibiotics when you start to feel that your skin is clearing up? You really shouldn't, because the bacteria can build up a resistance (aka.. antibiotic resistance, i'm sure we've all heard of this), thus the bacteria can come back stronger than ever.

Of course, other treatments to consider are other creams/gels prescribed by the doctor. I'm guessing they're not too effective if you are taking pills for them already. Have you tried minocycline? It's another antibiotic. Also Vitamin A tetrenoin gel is good - it helps with pimples AND softens the pigments on your face (which is good if you have some acne scars). It dries your face a lot though. This is actually related to the vitamin A, which you must have heard of - Accutane. (This is why people actually say 'carrots are good for you if you have acne' because carrots HAVE vitamin A. Just a little aside!)

I wouldn't recommend this unless your dermatologist does - in fact you HAVE to be sent to a dermatologist to get this drug prescribed (depending on where you live, this drug may be regulated differently though). This is the best acne treatment there is - and can be the worst because of the side effects. Talk to your dermatologist to see what is right for you.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm on Doxycyline right now and it works great. The problem is my acne always comes back when i get off the pill. Drink lot's of water and keep your hands off your face. Your hands are the leading cause of dirt that causes clogged pores on your face. Talk to your doctor about treatments that will work for you. If they don't have any suggestions, ask to be seen by a dermitologist. And don't worry, you will notice your acne more than everyone else. I know I notice my own. It is the first thing I see. You learn to get through it though, in the end, you will be beautiful. It doesn't matter what you look like, as long as you have a great personality and love yourself. I hope this helps. Good luck! Remember, to tell yourself you're are beautiful inside and out no matter what anyone says.

To go to the doctor and take antibiotic seems not like a long term solution. I have had acne problems myself so I know that acne is a tremendously embarrassing and burdensome problem but there are ways to actually cure acne naturally without meeting any medical doctor. As long as you use antibiotics you have only hidden the problem but not solved it.

Natural remedies can be as effective if not more than medications and i have learned that there is just a matter right nutritional balance of your body and proper skin care to get rid of you acne.

Easy things you can do to cure your Acne.

1) Apply a honey mask to your face once or twice a week.

2) Wash twice a day with acne soap, use a sulfur based soap for acne.

3) Do not scrub or over wash your skin. That will only make your skin produce more sebum that will lead to more acne.

4) Avoid using makeup if you dont have to.

Acne can be a sign that there is something wrong inside your body and not the outside so as tempting as it may be, do not squeeze, scratch, rub or touch your pimples or blackheads.

What you can eat to cure your acne.

Eat carrots it actually prevents acne.

Take a chromium supplement once a day to prevent future breakouts.

Eat foods rich in zinc.

Drink 8 glasses of water to help your body get rid of all the waste.

I hope it helped.

The antibiotic is not working for you because your skin is still providing the environment needed for the P. acnes bacteria to proliferate.

From the answers above, you'll probably have read about a drug called Accutane. If you still don't know what it is, go google it. It is almost a miracle drug for many acne sufferers - but it comes with a price as well.

Go to the dermatologist with your parents. Side effects of Accutane are many. It affects most, if not all. I don't know what is your acne condition so I can't really evaluate your case. Usually, if you have mild to moderate acne, low doses of Accutane is effective enough yet not strong enough to give you all the side effects. You will need to have a discussion between you, your parents and your doctor. Voice out your own opinion - it's very important.

Exude confidence in yourself! Good luck!

This link is to a brochure written by my dermatologist. It has a lot of wonderful tips for acne. A person never outgrows the tendency for acne. Dr. Alkek prescribed for me, Minocycline, a skin cleanser that he developed for his acne patients, a topical antibiotic and benzoyl peroxide. He later added Retin-A. (I still use his cleanser and the Retin-A) Then I went into his office every 2 weeks for glycolic acid treatments and the nurse would perform acne surgery when needed. I only needed to be on the antibiotics a fairly short period of time.
My insurance did not cover the glycolic acid treatments but my mom said it was the best thing we could have done for my face. I'm not sure if acne is even covered by insurance anymore at all. Oh, make sure to download the brochure, it has his list of non-comedogenic ingredients listed. Cut it out and put it in your purse. Anytime, you want to buy a new make-up, you can refer to that list of ingredients to stay away from. Here is the link. http://www.alkek.com/procedures/acne1.asp

Hope this is helpful information for you.

Roaccutane. It isn´t an antibiotic. It is isotretinoin, which is a very high concentration of vitamin A.
The side effects are a bit of a pain: dry eyes, flaking skin and very very very dry lips. You can low the dose a bit and use loads of vaseline for your lips + a good light mosturiser. It is worth the pain and your acne will dissapear forever.
You will need to be on the pill or have a coil fitted to avoid pregnancy. This is ´cause if you get pregnant the baby will surely come with problems, so a termination will be required.

It is a lesson to ponder. Never make use of certain product that you are not sure of the results. You should have something recommended by your dermatologist or doctor. It is a fact that severe ACNE problems torment many teens as well as older men and women. Don't wait to become one of them! There are many treatments available, some of which may come as a surprise to you. If you have been wanting to research different treatment options, I believe http://www.skinsosilky.com/acne-skin-care.htm offers what will work best for you.

Skin treatments will not work they are just a temporary fix for a much deeper problem honey. You need to go to the doctor and get on birth control pills. This is a result of excess androgens (male hormones) in your body. I had the same problem (i'm 19) and I tried every product known to man including proactive which only made my skin worse. Since going on birth control pills my skin has been dramatically changed for the better.

good luck

Hi there!

the 1st thing that you can try is an over-the-counter cream of gel formulated with benzoyl peroxide. It works by mildly irritating the skin, which encourages dying skin cells to flake off. This helps reopen clogged pores. In addition, benzoyl peroxide also kills the bacteria that infect clogged pores.

Besides that, you may also try tea-tree oil on blemishes to discourage infection and speed healing. You should dab a drop of tea-tree oil on your acne three times a day, for effective healing.
