I have a really good friend who's a guy (i'm a girl incase you didnt notice) and i had a pretty big crush on him, I don't know if I still do. he found out and he was pretty cool about it, and now we're back to being good friends. The question is, he teases me ALOT and makes fun of me ALOT and sometimes I wonder if he hates me, but just a few days ago he got me a birthday present that was almost 20pounds, and said it was because I deserved it and I was one of his closest friends. then why does he tease and make fun of me so much?

Though my question for the guys is - why do you people tease your close friends who are girls? is there another meaning to it?

btw, to answer someones question, he does this all the time. Even when we're alone, so it's got nothing to do with the peers thing..

Remember in elementary school and that one boy who was mean to you and use to pull your hair? Its not cause he hated you...its because he likes you! Sometimes, as a show of affection men tease and make fun of you to show they care. Like i tell some of my female friends, be glad i tease you and give you a hard time, because it my way of saying "i care about you!"

I think it would have helped a bit if we knew how old he was. But, that aside...

When does he tease you? When does he make fun of you? Is it in front of his friends? How does he act towards you when it's just you and him? How exactly does he "tease" you and "make fun" of you?

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that either a) he considers you nothing more than a good friend and his teasing and making fun is with good intentions and all in fun or b) he likes you and doesn't know how to say it otherwise.

My suggestion? Ask him. Get him alone and talk to him. Explain to him that you're confused... One minute he's teasing you and making fun of you and the next minute he's buying you a birthday present and telling you that you're one of his closest friends.

Good luck, though... I hope things work out the way you want them to. :)

Quite often there may be more to it. Maybe he's actually interested in a "more than just friends" relationship, and doesn't know how to proceed.
For one thing...it always used to seem like (to me) you gals always travelled in "packs". And if you wanted to talk with one in particular, the rest would start giggling and everybody would start talking about how you had a crush on somebody. But if you tease someone, you get a little attention from them...without everyone immediately assuming that you're "interested" in them.
I think it does say something interesting that...though this guy knows you had a crush on him, he still considers you one of his closest friends. A lot of friendships develop into more, and if you take it real slow and easy...without expecting anything more...who knows?
The bottom line: Men are from Mars, and women are from Venus...and that's just too damn close.
Good luck!

Sometimes we guys tend to tease people we're close to because we can't find another openning to express the type of warmth we really feel. I would say he's pretty far from hating you; more than likely he loves you, but just can't figure out how to tell you or even if he should.

Well look around you.. When does this teasing take place? In front of his peers? Teasing is a childish was of saying I want to bang u but I dont know how to go about it! COnfront him and say, hey.... U tease a lot which means u like me so what do u want to do about it?

I think that he likes you too, but too embarrassed to tell you himself and does it by the only way he knows how. By teasing. My husband was the same way. Now we're married and have a total of 3 children together. Maybe you should let him tell you when he's ready.

men in general have a hard time showing how we realy feel to certain people. I think the guy is sincere about liking you,,accept his present and either continue the friendship or take the relationship to the next level.the choice is yours..some guys re just shy.think it through.

Teasing quite often indicates that the person likes the one being teased - a juvenile behavior. If they do it often that's all the more indication that they have a crush on you.

I always tease my girl [SPACE] friends myself.

I guess it's just my way of being a little "sweet and spicy" towards them.

For me, though, it does mean anything intimately sexual. It's just a close friend thing.

He likes you for sure. Have fun. If you find it to be flirty, then ask him if he likes u for more than a friend etc.
