As we speak my C1 or C2 is pinching a nerve that gives me so much discomfort. It has affected my relationship and my life! I have just received DVD's on Lose the Back Pain and have been doing their stretching exercises for muscle imbalances, yet i still seem to be getting the subluxation so to speak in the neck. I am 45 and dont fancy spending the rest of my life in a Purgatory! I cant understand why this has got worse as i have got older yet my chiro says it has no relationship with age! Has anybody experienced anything similar??

DDD or degenerative disc disease, not a actual disease, starts at approx 30. I always go to a Hospital PT, who did me a favor sent me to Pilate's! I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and other problems. The first time at Pilate's I thought 'you are joking?' The second month I thought 'time to throw the towel in'. Nine months later they wanted to put me into Advance Pilate's, seems I had gone from Beginners Class to Intermediate and now was ready for advanced. It was tough work but I am now reaping the benefits, the spine is straight, the posture upright, muscles I have and I lost weight. When I started Pilate's I had a prolapsed disc in my lumbar spine, but did not know, not that it mattered, by the time I found out, I was addicted to Pilate's.

I don't know where you live, but if you live in an area where ' lobelia inflata ' grows, you can harvest the leaves and make a tea that will improve your aches and pains immeasurably. Go to Google and look up what the plant looks like and where it grows. If it is in your area harvest as many leaves as you can. Put a two quart pan of pure water on to boil. Take several huge handfuls of leaves, put them in a metal screen collander and wash them under water thoroughly. By the time you are done the water in the pan should be boiling. Take two large handfuls of leaves and place them in the boiling water. Turn to simmer for about 10 to 12 minutes. Turn the heat off and take an old used but clean white t-shirt and strain into a pitcher. One coffee cup of the tea and you can have a chair or couch made of concrete and you will think it is the softest thing you have ever sat on. Lobelia inflata is the strongest natural muscle relaxer in the world. If needed, have a 2nd cup. What you don't use can be refrigerated and heated up for later. Nothing works better for joints and muscle aches than this herb. Try it.

It might be in your best interest to go to a neurologist since going to a chiropractor for 10 years hasn't helped you.
Is this pain the result of an accident or did it come on suddenly?
Did you start going to a chiropractor before or after the pain started?
If you weren't injured in an accident, it could be something that you're doing every day like lying on a couch watching TV for hours with your head on the arm of the couch. Or, your bed pillow might be too hard or your mattress has lost it's support.
I used to get a stiff neck once in a while and I bought a new mattress and replaced my bed pillow with a cervical pillow and I stopped laying on the couch and I haven't had any neck problems since.

This may be the time to try a different chiropractor. They have different training and specialties like medical doctors. I refer my patients to a special chiropractor in town with great results.
