An excellent question ! Remember we live in the 21st century where perceptions have changed dramatically ..... remember the 1950's when being 50 meant woollen cardies, slippers and an early night with a cup of Complan? Not so any more, people in their 50's dress to suit the modern age, act younger and are able to be themselves so much more. I have already hit that magic age and am proud of my maturity and wisdom. Yes I make mistakes but I recognise them and do something about them. But to be honest, it's very difficult to look 15 years younger unless madame Revlon has done her magic. Accept your age, push your sexy mature pout out and strut your stuff! Everyone who things ageism is a joke should remember that they are all on the same path and may well looked knackered when they reach that age. 'Old' is simply in the eye of the beholder ...... 'old' is when you need help and admit it .... but I guess to a ten year old, 21 is old. So there you go ...... enjoy your maturity!

No (especially not from the vantage point of a 45 year old). We live healthier now than folks did when we were younger, consequently, we haven't experienced the same deterioration that used to break people down well before 40. And, since we're likely to live a good while longer (God willing), the age at which we'd be considered "old" is continually moved back. Nice, huh?

Not at all. Not anymore. 50 would be more considered middle aged. And if you are 50 and look 35 then good for you!! That is a really nice bonus. In my opinon very old doesn't start until you hit your late 60s and early 70s.

Lets be realistic. If you are 20yrs, it is old. If you are 30yrs it is still old. When you are 40, fifty is old. When you are 50 as I was last year it is as old as you want it to be. For anybody dreading being 50, don't worry about it because all your friends will be growing older with you and believe me you will worry less about things in life because you have been there and done it. Enjoy each day of your life, you only get one chance

Of course not age 50 is not old when you are ready to get medicare (a certain medical insurance in the US when you get to the age of 65) you're almost there but when you are like 70 or 80 years old trust me you're old.

some of you people may laugh but i only think 70+is old...
i once thought 50 was old but then my mom got to that age and she looked pretty darn good compared to other women who were 5 years younger (that look/ed like frogs)
then her cosin got to 60 and she doesn't look like a grandma.
it all depends on genes, the person's weight, and if he drinks/smokes/does drugs etc... if none of those things affected you now they will some day (ie- smoking=yellow teeth)
