I have been looking for methods of increasing my sprinting speed only using a treadmill and some weights. I was wondering if doing sprint intervals on a treadmill will work. I found this info on a site:

Treadmill Interval Session (glycolytic 1)
• Sprint Speed: 16-22 km/h (Fastest)
• Recovery Speed: 7-10 km/h
• Incline: 0.5%
• Sprint 60 sec - Recovery 180 sec
• Sprint 40 sec - Recovery 120 sec
• Sprint 30 sec - Recovery 90 sec
• Sprint 20 sec - Recovery 60 sec
• Sprint 10 sec - Recovery 30 sec
• Complete 4 times with 2 min rest between each block (B).

^ I was wondering if this routine could help me with my sprint speed

This looks like a very good idea to try for something different, but I think the recovery times are too long. Your longest sprint is not that long and your short sprints are brief. I would drop the recovery time to twice the length of your sprint time at least and you could go to sprint=recovery. Don't forget it takes a little time for the treadmill to ramp up to speed so you get a few extra seconds of recovery. And as aminor detail, experiment between the 0.5% vs 1% grade. I've found that 1% feels more like running on the track. I hope you find this workout a good change up from the typical track intervals.

Have you tried the elliptical? That machine kicks my butt, then when I go out on a run it feels like nothing. I do the elliptical, rower and bike in the gym to practice pacing and breathing, I only run outside 2-3 times a week. I'm saving my legs for a marathon. I personally cannot do the treadmill, I get shin splints within 3 minutes.

You're much better off doing sprint training outside than on a treadmill.

I'd go with 2 days a week at the track doing 10x100s. Run the straights fast, hard, controlled, good form. Rest, walk, jog recover on the turns.

Good Luck
