effettall: Sin separates us from the one whole created us. It's not a guilt trip...The Ten commandments show us that we are all fallen and un clean in the sight of an Holy Righteous God who must punish the malefactor.

The law points us to the fact we all need a saviour. For those that repent to God and truly believe in Jesus there is forgiveness.

You have to be a christian to have asked this question. I think the concept of sin in christianity is more pronounced than in other faiths . I personally don't consider myself or anyone else sinners. Sin is just an idea invented by people. What is right and wrong ? Extamarital sex is considered wrong because it threatens people's
security. Whatever is seen as a threat to your comfortable way of life is considered wrong. As we live among other people I think it is right that we observe the rules of society. What is right in England may not be right in India or some other place. We need to be sensitive to the feelings of other people. What is cool today wasn't cool say 20 years ago. So the world is forever undergoing a process of change and sometimes this change seems unacceptable to the older generation. Change may not always be for the better. If you asked me... there is no such thing as sin and there are no sinners. We all make mistakes and as Jesus said we need to forgive those who wrong us. I think Jesus if properly understood was really a cool guy and even today we would have found his wisdom refreshingly relevant to our lives.

Be it the Ten Commandments or Hammurabi's Code, I've never met a person who hasn't broken like two or three rules on a typically objective social contract.

I consider it to be a sin to be a Christian in 2007.

It is not 1507 anymore , we know so much more about how Christianity was formed , it is a miracle that people still believe .

Define sin? Is it eating a bacon sandwich, drinking a glass of wine, having a quick one off the wrist?
Sin is only for the religious nutter !
Now if you fly planes into tall buildings, burn people at the stake, etc. that's OK, huh?

No, but then I don't agree with the christian definition of sin. I am an imperfect person and as such have both good and bad in my life - the good I keep and the bad I try my best to correct.

All men are sinners (women too). Those that say they're not are lying, and thus a sinner. We all sin in what we do or fail to do or in what we say or fail to say. We all fall short of the Glory of God. What is wonderful is that we have salvation. We don't even have to ask for it, it is freely given. All we must do is accept it!

No, I don't consider myself a sinner.
I think that the word sinner is just a word made up to make the religious guilt trip easier to perform.

I only recognise one sin - hurting someone else needlessly.

I do not set out hurting others without good cause and therefore I do not sin.
