Jesus said in Matthew 28:20 that He would always be with us--although He may have been contrasting His spiritual light to Satan's spiritual darkness. Jesus will never cease to be the light of the world. And don't believe anyone who says that they've become the "new" light of the world. Good question!!!!!..

My understanding of the term "Light of the World" is that he is a Spiritual master. And he is telling to his discipiles and masses that he could give us the way or the path to go back back home to the Supreme God Head.

Now I think that there could be more than one Spiritual master present at one time, they could be in the same place of in different locations. And all the spiritual master preach the same thing then same truth.

There could be many people present in the world who would be the light of the world at present. And there teaching would be exactly the same as that of all the past prophets and saints.

when time comes they will find their disciple.

When shephard wistles, sheep recognises the sound and flok to him and Also when Chela is ready, Guru appears.

Christ is still in this world. He is still the light, shining inside the hearts of christians and getting brighter as we spread the Word. He shall be in this world until the end.

Now there is not one light ,but many in which the original light has lit. Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada was the most recent Acarya and He then gave The Absolute Truth Universal truth to His disciples and they are to spread it to others. Sometimes there is no one person qualified to take their place being they are not on the same Transcendental platform as the original Acarya. So he empowers many to spread His teachings. Jesus did not appoint one as far as I understand he had 12 original and they where to spread and so on and so on. There are 4 bonafide sampradayas that are appointed by God. No others are sanctioned to spread the message otherwise it is considered contaminated information.

This also happens in Samadhi. In Samadhi (on an object/idea), we become the object/idea itself, and our own-self is no more at that time.
