Because it can.

Vietnam, the Philippines, Brunei, China, and Taiwan all claim at least a piece of those rocks. None has a real claim to ownership, Vietnam included. China is the biggest kid on the block, and therefore it sits where it wants.

It's a very very long story my friend, anyway i just can say China always wanted to invade and expands its land. Asia is in danger and not only Paracel and Spratly islands of Vietnam. For those who don't know please don't answer, in fact Paracel and Spratly islands belong to Vietnam, forever. The Paracel islands lie about 250 miles off the coast of Hainan. They're also about the same distance off the coast of Vietnam. The islands were formerly part of French Indochina, and were controlled by Vietnam until 1974 when China forcibly took them from Vietnam. They're not simply rocks, but 're rich in natural resources and their surrounding sea is very important for strategic and political reasons. Other Asian countries should stand up together to fight China's expansion, its greed and lack of restraint're definitely sickening.
