Yes your right.
And it will get worse as new drivers who think its acceptable to drive selfishly like others they see on the roads.
Also car ownership is very cheep nowadays (compared to earnings). And cities have a higher population too (more flats), hence more cars.
Even students who claim to have no money can afford to run a car.
I see two options:
1 . carry on as we are until the roads grind to a halt.
2. restrict car ownership / use, via laws or tax. Encouraging people to use public transport, (public transport will get better if the demand for it increase. As no company will invest in public services if people don’t use them).
If the law was changed so that only drivers aged between 27 – 60 could drive, this could help ease the load on the roads.
Ban parents dropping off and picking up children from schools would help.
Increasing the difficulty of the driving test. Only the very capable driver would get a licence. And inferior driving licence’s from outside the UK should not be accepted.
More cargo should be transported via train.
Ban all non emergency traffic from the roads during rush hours.
Force employers to only employ people who live close to the workplace.
Scrap employer tax breaks for company cars.
Just some possible ideas that could work. Though change is always disliked. And any government who tried to propose such ideas would see themselves voted out.
So looks like we are stuck with option 1. Until everyone understands things have to change.
We have all seen sci-fi moves with cars flying over the cities queuing up to enter and leave the city.
In some people’s eyes there will never be any change.

No it isnt your imagination - the rush hour has become a rush 4 hours morning and night near to London. The volume of cars around school times is ridiculous - kids dont walk anywhere anymore. We have such a high number of foreigners here now (many without UK licenses too) who drive carelessly and a growing number of young people passing tests. Its crazy and very very stressful xxxx

I have been driving for 12 years and I actually disagree, I think the roads are much better than they used to be. Mind you, it all depends where you are in the UK (I'm in Scotland). However I think the number of rude and incompetent drivers have increased the last few years.

in answer to your " Q" mate
i drive a van and sometimes called upon to drive a lorry ( 7.5 tons)
don't even start me on the idiots we have on the roads at the moment
here's an example,, i was turning left in my lorry,,i had to swing out to the right abit and some NUTTER started to come down my left hand side even though i had my indicator on all the time,,,
it's a pity that you don't have to drive these vehicles as part of the driving test,, then these TWITS would then know what it's like to be in the lorry drivers position when carrying out a left or fight hand turn::
so yes it is very stressfull driving these days and it is all down to other drivers NOT using common sense

You are definitely correct . I started driving in 1972 and the change over the past 35 years is phenomenal
There are also many more poor standard drivers around and risk takers who put others life in danger

Yeah, me too.
Its bloody manic just trying to get to work on a morning.
Too many bad drivers and nutters on the roads now.
They seem to give licences to any baboon that can walk and talk at the same time now.

the driving is getting worse as well with all the immigrants if you go abroad their standard of driving is terrible i live in Spain and find it comical that they double park when picking the kids up even with police there and also how they don't see anything wrong with starting in the right hand lane to go all the way round the roundabout not forgetting driving on the left for this manoeuvre

The volume of traffic is increasing every year and more hold ups mean more road ragers. You also have to be quicker at junctions and better at parking as space is tight.
