Nothing is the cause. Islamic Extremism may be responsible, but for what cause? I guess, if anything, you could say the cause was stupidity. Did they really think that the 9/11 actions would do anything but elicit a heavy response from us? They call it Jihad but i say whatever. When you've been constantly fighting over dirt for 200+ years there really shouldn't be any special name for it.
It really doesn't matter to me the amount Anti-war crazy comments I hear. Most aren't made by citizens of or in the US, and the ones that are tend to be the most obvious fanatical and uneducated bunches out there. Despite what they preach there is a lot of support and gratitude. If the Libs are so sure the wars a failure why don't they take their cameras out of Hedonistic San Francisco and go over to Iraq and ask some of the Civilians there if the situations any better? It is better, much better and much of the civilian population are beginning to work in tandem with our troops. This was gained through unyielding determination, trust and honest hard work, despite what the Libs. would like the US public to believe.

My theory is that OBL chose to use mostly Saudi born terrorist on 9-11 in the hope of toppling the Saudi Royal family.

Disrupting the Saudi Royal family would allow OBL to "capture" Mecca, the center of gravity for all of Islam...

The cause behind 9/11 was radical Islamic fundamentalism. If you research the Crusades, they took place for basically the same reason, except the religions that battled Islam back then were not handcuffed as today's military are in fighting them. The fact is, they took modern technology and used it against the people that made it available. And against the two largest targets in the world.

depends on which government you are referring to it seems that those who actually plane-napped the flights were muslims, i'm guessing they were terrorists. only terrorist would take on a suicide mission known to be attacking women, children, old men, and members of their own religion and/or nationality if you have a plausible explanation as to why the muslims took over the flights but were not terrorist i would love to hear it

A group of radical Islamists defeated the Soviet Union with American help. They are so radical that they believe that anything except pure Islam is evil. That includes western style democracies or any politicians. Conveniently, only the leaders of the religion have legitimate authority. It is the latest style of totalitarian political power grabbing to place them in power. It is rather similar to Communists. They decided it was time to attack the greatest power in the world because they thought we were paper tigers.
