I live in a semi detached bungalow and have teribal problems with the next door neighbours there nice people but old and bang doors and shout a lot , I have just had a stud wall put up in my bedroom , filled with polistyrene that does not seem to of made much difference , maybe the noise is coming through the loft , any suggestions on how i can ad more soundprofing , to Quieten the noise down.

..i have answered this one many times ..the answers all ways the same ...first do NOT build the wall in timber ..it transmit sound very well ..use metal studs ..available from most builders merchants ..set at 400mm ..infill with rock wool sound proofing bats .. make sure you fill every gap and you buy proper soundproofing bats ..these come in various thicknesses and i would go for 75mm minimum ...the cover wall in sound proofing plasterboard's ...these have a blue edge ..this will stop 90% of sound...polystryene and ordinary fibre glass are a wast of time and money

use regular insulation tot that other stuff it makes it worse or have some noise of your own very loud when they are being quiet or sleeping mabe thely will get the point

better loft insulation, could help however, maybe say something to the neighbours, regardless of their age you do need some rest bite.

flippin tell em..me and my neighbours tell each other..i tell em when i'm gunt av music on and they appologise for the baby screamin...it must be horrible for you..theres nuffin worse
