I don't do any harm to anyone. I'm fully aware the videos are not real (aka. women under 200 lbs. do not normally yank off their clothes in front of the milkman and bend over the closest table...unfortunately haha) Why do I feel like I'm doing somebody harm though???
I'm not religious but I did grow up in Catholic schools (15 years of it). Is it a--for want of a better word--backwash of that?

lb_centaur I'm really sorry you're drunk idiot tonight and didn't get laid. That's too bad. I didn't get laid either, but I don't feel as bad as you do. Unlike you, I HAVE actually been laid (by incredibly hot women) in my life. And not ones I had to pay for, either. I just wanted to let you know I hope you reach the day where you have nothing to prove anymore. It will be a wondrous event

Dear Here,
Who knows? Maybe you feel guilty because you are a fundamentally decent human being?
Somewhere along the way, you picked up the notion that sexuality is about bringing people together, not driving them apart.
And nothing drives us apart worse than when one person turns another into a "thing". A thing to be used for his or her - or someone else's - own gratification.
Perhaps you understand at a deep level that human beings are worth something. That there is something special about them, and something special about you.
Perhaps a part of you gets that we were made for love. Real, personal love. Love that would even sacrifice its own pleasure of the moment, for the good of the other.
Perhaps a part of you really deep down has loved a real woman in your life - with an unselfish love. Maybe your Mom. Maybe a sister, a cousin. You want to protect her. You don't want anyone else treating her with disrespect. You don't want anyone else treating her like a thing.
You know that treating her like a thing is not what love is about.
You also realize at some level that these poor women may - back home - have someone who cares about and loves them. A brother, a Dad, someone just like you. And his heart would break if he knew the thoughts that the porn customers are having about "his little girl."
A part of you thinks about this stuff. That just means that there's hope for you!

This entirely depends on the porn.
If porn is acted by people who are being paid fairly, consenting and of legal age, then there is no real harm in it.
I don't buy the argument that watching porn is contributing to the problem simply because the real driving force of the pornography industry is market economics not sexual domination, IE you will never remove the interest people have in porn - its normal human behavior and thus there will always be a market.
However if the pornography is being made by people who will not pass a fair amount of the income onto the actors, are using drugs as a form of payment, are using fear or blackmail as persuasion or using people who are not legal adults then you should feel guilty for watching it - not because you are watching it but because you will do nothing to protest against these abuses.
It's a difficult line to follow because in a lot of ways, you can never be sure of the circumstances in which the porn was made.
Do some research on the actual production values rather than just the productions.

If you meet a girl who is willing to break up with you over something as harmless as watching porn, the ***** doesn't deserve you anyways. You shouldn't feel guilty, you are just indoctrinated into thinking that porn is a terrible thing when, in reality, it is completely natural and most men do look at it.

You probably feel guilty because of your Catholic instruction; personally, I don't think that is a bad thing!
Pornography belittles the personhood of women; that is, it turns a living, breathing, feeling person into a mere object of lust. It is a dehumanization of the woman you are watching in this lust play. Instead of lovemaking being something exciting, romantic, and wonderful between a husband and wife, porn makes sex into an anonymous visual sex toy, without intimacy, love, or even friendship.
Ultimately, you feel that it is wrong to dehumanize another, to use another human being as an object for your own personal pleasure. That is where the guilty feelings are coming from: by buying into the porn, you are contributing to the prostitution of the actress on the screen. Prostitution DOES do people harm. Don't kid yourself into thinking that it doesn't.
I'm glad you are actually thinking about this topic. Many people don't!

because it's just bad to watch porn. sex is supposed to be enjoyed if you're already married and that's one of the reasons of what marriage brings us, it brings us pleasure and love. sex shouldn't be spread and shouldn't be shown to other people, it should be kept only to ourselves...its name should have its own respect...
