I cant speak for everyone who lives in the UK but where i live, in the midlands were there are mass numbers of muslims, which not only choose to segregate themselves from certain british cultures but also from non muslim people or from white people totally.
How most muslims totally sepperate themselves from white people due to the fact you rarely or never see a muslim woman or man with a white person unless there sitting next to each other waiting in a line or on a bus.
Not every muslim is like this i know....
but what is the point moving into a foreign country and segregating yourself from its poeple and culture??

Purity should be preserved. You don't need to do anything to preserve contamination.

Not all do, but the ones that don't have to abandon many tenets of their faith, which causes a lot of friction in their strict culture.
I believe Islam is only workable in a theocracy, unless they revise their Faith to fit into a secular society.
Until then there will always be balkanization. Just like the orthodox Jews.
However, after the Holocaust, people in the UK and Europe (and the US) have (mercifully) stopped demonizing the Jews so much, now they are concentrating on the Muslims because of 9/11 and the Taliban.
Now (as comments on here show) the racists are saying all the same things that they once said about the jews: Rats, dirty, shut off and self-serving, don't belong, trying to take over the world etc...
and on it goes...which is a shame, as there is little dialogue, only namecalling and propaganda. This escalates and any chance of reaching a meaningful discussion is lost to warring again...

We live a completely different type of social life. WE dont drink alcohol, go clubbing, go to the pub, mix with opposite sex inappropriately, etc. This ultimately leads to a degree of seggragation
