Then why do so many Doctors advise so many people to take it for almost everything, isn't it either you need medication or you don't? Surely it is not right to recommend medication of any kind where for instance a cup of warm milk and honey will do the job just as well and even worse to recommend pain killer, however mild, when there is a remotest chance it will defer "very early symptoms" of a more serious illness and who except God himself can be absolutely sure on that point?

Paracetamol does in fact offer symptomatic relief of a lot of symptoms.
While a cup of warm milk and honey may offer some temporary relief, I am lactose intolerant and diabetic; it could put me in the hospital.

Nobody expects paracetamol to cure anything, but it's a nice analgesic and extraordinarily safe, so why not? And when comparing it to, say, honey for symptoms of a cold, there's not an either/or situation but both can be done.

A tablet of paracetamol is easier to obtain, cheaper and has the lesser side effects than a cup of honey. Paracetamol never hides any serious diseases as it is only a mild analgesic.
