I was told yesterday by my 1SG that dropping a soldier is "no longer authorized". Is this true? I had heard that you can no longer humiluate them, or cause undue hurt/pain, and the like, but no dropping whatsoever? Is it for real????

Your First Sargeant told you this? Are you a NCO? Cause if your not I see no reason you can or if anyone would drop for you if your not an NCO. Also, if you were an NCO you would know "If its for real." You would have to be at least an E-5 to drop anyone unless your a Corporal in the Army & judging by you needing to ask people on yahoo answers for this I assume your not an NCO at all & Im questioning if your even military.

It's probably part of the "New Army" campaign. They don't want to hurt feelings or they may go home on leave and never come back.

DROP EM if your training them, don't go soft, that's how you weed out the slackers!
It's still done in the Marine Corps, but heck, the Marines always train like it should be done.

I think Zurikon is right!

what are you, twelve? If you are in positional authority, the fact that you want to drop anyone is a sign that you cannot handle the leadership responsibilities and have not earned the respect of your troops.

How about treating your fellow soldiers with a little respect and practice that Teamwork thing?

Dropping somebody once they have gotten out of Basic Training is just a power trip.

"Dropping" soldiers has gone out of fashion, (especially if they are wearing body armor!) Most soldiers today are combat veterans, and you just don't drop people wearing a combat patch. A combat veteran isn't going to drop for you, it would be humiliating. I have also heard that you can't drop soliders anymore because of the flag we wear on the uniform. If you drop them, your putting the flag on the ground.

You won't like this, but it's what you need to hear. Because YOU are a supervisor of another soldier, YOU need to read up on what you can and cannot do for them and to them. C'mon...how would you feel if YOUR supervisor went on Yahoo! Answers to ask the civilian population in the US AND ABROAD, what HIS legalities are when wanting to drop YOU?

Drop them at every opportunity. Don't hold back! Fragg on fragg on!
