why are men expected to get down on one knee to ask a girl to marry them? its like they're begging. i wouldn't want anyone to have to beg for my affection

where did that tradition start? or like how or why?

It is an honor and tradition for a man to get down on one knee (even if some of us may not get up easily) and propose to a woman they are in love with.

The main reason why I believe this tradition is so important is because a king has finally found a lady who he wants to be his queen. It is something that, believe it or not, a man looks as much forward to as a lady. It isn't begging, it is showing a woman that she is honored and respected. Something a lady should never go without.

it's probably a tradition that started like a couple hundred years ago, and at that time they probably were begging. then, nobody really ever changed the tradition, although not all girls expect the one knee ordeal...

Its more than tradition its a man asking a woman for her hand in marriage and hoping she will say yes. most women are very romantic people and would love this approach and I wish I could have done the same but circumstances prevented it and i still feel like my heart is missing something.
