The Xbox has more games but it heats up easily and breaks down. The PS3 has less games but it has blue ray and it recently drop down its price. Which one is worth it?

Only the first 360s overheated. I say this because non of my friend and me included have any problems. I play about 1 hour on weekdays and maybe 10 on weekends and nothing has happened to it. Also I have kept my 360 on for 12 hours numerous times and nothing has happened, although I did not play during that time. What good is a blue ray if you wont have any good games to use it for. And the good games that do come out for the ps3 will probably be out for the 360 also. And still after ps3 dropped its priced its still worth as much as a 360. Why do you think they dropped the prices in the first place? Well its because no one buys the console unless they are rich or are a true fan of the playstation. Go and buy yourself a 360 for christmas. Also Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Forza 2, Assasins Creed, etc.

If you ask me it's a matter of preference. If you like most of the games from microsoft then buy the 360, but if you like most of the games from sony and Playstation then get a PS3.But also it seems that sooner or later a game exclusively on one console will be on the other. However, this may only be so for a linited amout of time, that is, until Sony uses the blu-ray disc to the limit and also really starts to use the cell processor, and when that happens the 360 probably won't be able to keep up with Playstation.

Another point is, as many others have stated, it seems that in order to get the full use of a 360, you has to constantly upgrade it with parts that are not only expensive but should've been included when you brought it. It also charges extra money for some basic features that you would think would be free, such as xbox live and rechargable controllers without buying extra accessories to do so. PS3 on the other hand can do just about everything it promised right out the box. I especially like the blu-ray player, whereas 360 makes you buy another drive to play hd-dvds.

My last point though is that just about all, if not all, 360 games are also on the PC. So, if you have a decently upgraded, or current, computer you should be able to play the 360 games on the PC. Of course PC gameplay might be a little different from console play, but if you get a PC controller similar to the layout of a 360 controller, it might not matter too much. And you could use the PC until you got a 360 if you really wanted to get one. So based on this info, I would have to say PS3, of course I could be biased as I already own a PS3, but I also own a xbox, PS2, and gamecube, and had them before the next gen consoles came out. And I eventually hope to get all three once again. But that's just me.

The Xbox 360 still suffers from the red ring of death and a 33% failure rate, though microsoft has tried to fix the problem with larger heat sinks and smaller CPU's, it still doesn't fix the problem.

You should get the Playstation 3 because-

*Reliability- The PS3 has a .2% defect rate, the Xbox 360 has a 33% failure rate.

*Cell Processor- The cell processor is an extremely powerful micro processor built of 8 processors (SPE's) and one PPE. This processor is built for extreme amounts of processing and is very useful for multi tasking through artificial intelligence, physics, lighting navigation, etc- The xbox 360 has a 3 core processor, which is strong in general processing, albeit not the best for video games.

*RSX GPU- The RSX is a powerful GPU which is specialized to work with the cell processor to render DX10 like graphics by pooling it's RAM.- The xbox 360's GPU can only handle DX-9, while is good in the graphics department, though not the best.

*Blu Ray- The next generation disc medium which can store up to 50GB (100GB in experimental models) The extra space allows game developers to make large responsive environments, complex artificial intelegance, HD video and audio, etc. without compression.- The xbox 360 only uses DVD for games, which can only hold 9GB, which results in short games, aka Halo 3, Bioshock, and gears of war.

*Other operating systems- The ps3 can get different operating systems installed, such as Linux, allowing it to be an alternative computer, and you can install many diferent programs.- The xbox 360 cannot do this

*Web browser- The ps3 has a decent web browser, which you can go to many different web sites with, it does have basic flash updates, but it does need to be improved upon, including in java, though this can be fixed easily via a firmware upgrade. Many popular sites like myspace and youtube are accessable though.- the xbox 360 doesn't have one

*Folding@home- With this program which can be downloaded to any PS3 easily, you can use your PS3's extra processing power while you're not using it for Cancer research by folding and analyzing proteins.

*Play TV- Pretty much Tivo for your ps3, a tuner that you can record things with. Though it has only been announced to launch in Europe so far.

*Interchangeable hard drive- This pretty much means you can change the size of your hard drive with any hard drive so you can store more things.- you have to buy an expensive MS HDD for the 360

*Built in wifi- Wifi lets you connect to the internet wirelessly- With the xbox 360 you have to buy a wifi adapter for $100, this comes standard in the PS3.

*Free Online- the xbox 360 costs $50 per year

*Playstation Home- Playstation home is an interactive community of ps3 users where you can play games or meet up with friends and hang out at your virtual home and hang outs, as well as stream live media(releasing in early 08 and is FREE)

* Games- For now good games include; Heavenly Sword, Resistance Fall of Man, Rainbow Six Vegas, Folklore, warhawk, lair, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Call of Duty 4 Uncharted:Drakes Fortune, Motorstorm, Eye of Judgment etc. Good upcoming games are Haze, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Yakuza 3, White Knight Story, Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear online, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Afrika, Time Crisis 4, Tekken 6, Socom: Confrontation, L.A. Noire, Motorstorm 2, InFamous, Killzone 2, Kurayami, Way of the Samurai 3, etc. Over 300 games will be released by next spring.

If you get a PS3 make sure you don't get duped into buying an obsolete Sixaxis as a second controller.

Get one of these: http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-8g7l-71-zl-49-en-84-j-70-2boq.html

Upon checkout use the code: RE-XMA-SAB
for $5 off.

They come out in the US Spring '08 but are available now in the link from Japan.
Sony is trying to clear out Sixaxis overstock in the US.

Ehm..
If you can't watch anymore videos on facebook or youtube probably you don't have the last version of Adobe Flash Player. It allows you to solve the problem.
You should definitely try Adobe Falsh Player (get one of the latest versions though). Link http://bit.ly/1p3P7GP
Have a nice day

PS3 games produced are on Hd 50gig blueray (more space for better graphics without sacrificing game levels and game size..) GTA4 developers even stated that the game will have better graphics and gaming on the ps3 version and are having issues with the 360 version because of 8gig dvd game format... They may have to make the 360 version on multiple disc so if you like getting out of your chair alot while playing, .....

360-elite games produced on dual layered 8gig dvds
game developers are finding the 360 format to limiting and finding that they have to sacrifice game graphics or gaming levels and challenges...Bungie the makers of HALO series have parted the exclusive ways with Microsoft and are now developing games that are multiplatform...

Ps3 499 and xbox 360 399or elite for $479---THe Ps3 for the extra $20 you get a full HD entertainment system that also surfs the internet. You can goto any website and watch or download videos like YouTube...You can access your email and print it etcc...

Ps3 Blueray hd movie player that also upscales regular dvds movies to HD...It also upscales ps2 games to hd..

Ps3 comes with rechargeable controllers...

Ps3 comes with free online play and Wifi

All of the above the 360-elite can't do.
360 and elite -For hd movies you have to buy the hddvd player for $200. For

360 elite for quick charge kit you have to buy it for $20.

To play online the 360 charges $50 a year

360 elite no interent browser

Ps3 hdmi 1.3 (supports deep color)
360-elite- 1.2 doesn't support deepcolor 1.3

Ps3 Nvidia RSX GPU Graphics at least two years ahead of it's time. And programmers aren't even close to using it's full potential yet.
360-elite is hardware locked into outdated DX9 graphics-Game programmers are developoing for DX10 (full 4d and 3d motion realism)

THe ps3 8cell broadband processors. CPU-Designed specifically for highspeed calculations (Games Capable of more AI charactors )

Xbox 360 -Elite-- The New 65NM CHip....Isn't any different then what they used in the 360 core except it cost less to produce....

Ps3 you can buy any external usb harddrive and hook it up loaded with music videos , etc...You can buy any brand 2.5 ata harddrive and upgrade the harddrive size for ps3...

THe elite and 360 requires Microsoft harddrives only- for a 20gig it's $100, for the 120 it's $189

360 -elite for wifi you have to pay an additional $100 and online gaming is $50 a year...And for that $50 a year to play online you also get stuck with third party in menu advertising...

To use 60% of what the 360 and elite can do you have to buy the addons and you'll spend over $750 before you even insert a game.

THe elite and new 360s hdmi, 65nm, red ring of death--Microsoft has no Idea what the cause is, You can't fix what you can't find. Game producer are even finding that the engines that Micorsofts provides them to develope games on are getting the Red ring of death and it is not caused by just the hardware engineering flaws. They are seriously frustrated and that is one reason Bungie the maker of the Halo series has left their exclusive contract with microsoft and is now developing games for other systems. Microsoft still owns Halo though. So yes all the 360s even the new ones are all vulnerable.

THe 360 sales numbers are game producer driven by three titles HALO, bioshock ( rumored to be multiplatform soon and availble to the pc now) and Gears of war (available to the PC now)...If it wasn't for those titles many gamers wouldn't tolerate the limitations and engineering flaws of the 360

Get the ps3 you can use it for so much more. We own all three. THe wii, elite and ps3... The ps3 will take you into the next two generations of game consoles... The 360 will have to be re deigned or another generation produced by 2009

Graphics - PS3 has some games that have better graphics, due to extended production time, but Xbox 360 dominates most games in graphics (bearing in mind that these are not much graphical differences, so it won't matter much), the PS3 all in all, has more graphics power than the 360 which may prove vital later down the line.

Games - Xbox 360 has tonnes of games to go along with, but it has been said that they are too similiar, only dipping their hands into the 'shooter' genre, whilst PS3 does not have many games, but they are over a wide rane of genres. Since Xbox 360 has over a year's production time more than PS3, the games will be much more but PS3 may dominate.

Online play - The 360 has a much more vast environment for online play than the PS3. But while you have to pay monthly, it is a split decision.

Media - The 360 can be connected up to Windows Media Center, it can interact with it to send music, videos, pictures, and even MSN can be used. The 360 wired controllers are compatible with PC. 360 cannot use Blu-ray, but can rival it with HD-DVD. PS3 can support up to 7 wireless controllers, support Blu-ray DVDs, CDs, images, PSP.

System issues - Now, heres for the not so good part, it is reported that between 25% - 33% of all Xbox 360's bought have shown the RROD, this is a serious dent in the 360 market. Due to the design of the Xbox 360, there has been an increased risk in the system being rendered unusable. Nyko intercooler fans have been introduced onto the market, which really shows up the 360. Overheating issues, disc scratching issues, disc read errors have also been reported, with Microsoft either turning their backs, or giving a helping hand, either though there is a high number of unsatisfied customers. On the other hand, the PS3 has only a few problems, none of which are as severe as the 360's, still making it playable. But caring for your systems will reduce the risk of failure and malfunction.

Price - PS3 ranges from £299.99 to £379.99, since the price reduction which was now been widespread. In America, the equivalent of those values will be ranging from $399.99 to $499.99. The Xbox 360 ranges from £189.99 - £300.00 in England, and $219.99 - $449.99
. In reality, the Playstation 3 may cost more as a single payment, but overtime, if you are one of the more 'unfortunate ones' to buy the 360, you will pay less, but repair costs, add-ons etc may cost you even more. If you really care for your 360, I can guarantee, that it will last you a very long time unless you are 'less fortunate', Make sure to give the 360 at least 6 inches of ventilation space and it will last a whole lot longer.

If there are any errors in my answer, please don't insult me, but just correct me in a comment or another alternative, thank you.

This is my cut and paste answer. The reason for that is because a tech info is a tech info, you can't beat it (sources below).

PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:

1). A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%. Despite some people say, that new 360 has no breakdown issues - just visit Xbox section of Yahoo answers and see for yourself an amount of complaints.
2). PS3 has 8 (7+1) kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.
3). PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.
4). Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
5). PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
6). PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
7). PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $
8). Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 Mhz. It's difficult to compare their graphics chips, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. However, PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.
9). PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.
10). Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".
11). Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
12). In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......
13). PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.
14). There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.
15). The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).
16). On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.
17). PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.
18).Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.
19).Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.
20). PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 is getting rumble controller (Dualshock 3) in 1st quarter 2008, Japan already has it. On www.ebay.com I saw those controllers on sale 50$ and up (unofficial import)
21).On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.
22).New 40GB is 399$ or 399 euro (depends on the region) - it has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, has 2 USBs instead of 4, no built-in card reader, but it's the same PS3, strong, reliable, less noisy, different cooling system. The price is friendly.

I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.
