Well I'm sure you know that the cost would first be dependent upon the total number of people in the village. Other factors would include age, access to the clean, potable water, access to medical care and sewage collections, etc.
I did some research and found the site http://www.toadoptavillage.org/villages.shtml

This site encompasses a total "adoption" of a village, to the tune of around $35,000.00 for one year. Now this includes medical care and other things besides just food. So if you want a "ball park" figure, the cost for just food would probably work out to be a couple of hundred dollars a month. (again, the size of the village is a significant factor).
Hope this helps and best wishes to you.

I personally feel with such great need in the appalachian & other areas of the U.S. I should concentrate on feeding my own before sending money to a country where politics make it unlikely to ever reach those who really need it.

But there are plenty of ways to help a lot with a little. Oprah had one couple who let you sponsor a business idea of a poor person. They're usually in a third world country & needs start as low as $15. When they pay it back you get it deposited with interest to your account to help still others. Making a huge impact in one's life is worth more than just giving substinece to a bunch from day to day whose life will rarely change.

Then America's Second Harvest & Feed The Children are both great. They provide a lot of food for very little because they are volunteer based.

But for your exact question the first answer is best.
