I feel your pain! I have had strep 8 times within this past year! I have it right now as well! Strep can be very painful and make you feel really bad! If you have white stuff in the back of your throat you probally have it. (My doctor always looks for white patches)
What I reccomend is to call your local hostpital and tell them what is going on. Also see if there is anything they can do for you if you do have it. You may even find an emergency doctors office open, but if not go call your hostpital.
In the meantime try getting LOTS of rest! Also eat/drink hot or cold foods. I usually eat ice-cream. The best thing is hot chocolate or very warm milk ect. There is not to many medicanes you can take but one thing that may help is motrin! Motrin causes the inflimation in the throat to decrease therefore less pain (It wont completley cure it but it will help my doctor told me this yesterday!)
Strep can get serious if not treated for awhile, so see a doctor asap!
Get well soon!

Yes, the hospital can give you antibiotics, and if the pain is pretty severe, something for that as well. Is there an Urgent Care center in your town? A high fever is a pretty good indication of strep throat, but not all cases of strep are accompanied by a fever. My daughter's last one had only very mild symptoms. Some things you might try in the meantime are ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc), and/or Benedryl. Both have antiinflammatory properties, and hot salt water gargles. I would definately go the hospital ER if you are running a high fever (above 101 degrees) and/or if the pain is unbearable. Good luck!
