I have just finished school. I'm 17 years old. I live in Brisbane, Australia. I have very good clerical skills. I would like something where i can express myself: wear my piercings in, wear what i want, have my hair however i want it etc. I don't have a car yet.

It's just really hard trying to find a job I like, when I don't even know what I'm looking for...

Maybe you can clean yourself up long enough to get the experience and be of value to your employer and look the part.

After your are in like Flin, then slowly make the change back to how you really want to be.

You get no respect when you don't dress for the job.

My motto is, "Dress for Success."

Don't narrow your choices. Life is all about conforming in certain areas.

You will always be hired because there is a position open.

The purpose for any and all positions is to make the bosses job easier.

As long as you consistently do the best job you can and the easier you you can make life better for the boss, I guarantee that you will be noticed and be the first to move up the ladder of success.

If you have good clerical skills, but like wearing piercings.. it will be difficult to get a professional job that pays more than minimum wage so you can try to get a job at a Beauty Supply store or like a clothing department (rock) or at the mall in Claire's or a music store where you can buy Cd's. I work in a Community Building, helping others find jobs, but as long as you have skills of speech or clerical skills trust me, you might get promoted for anything! :]]

Good Luck!

You can put your clerical skills and keep your look by working from home. Its basically called being a personal assistant where you go and do small petty stuff for others. Like picking up dry cleaners, shopping for gifts, arranging events, etc.
You can charge $10 and up depending on what they need for you to do.
Hope this helps.

gah, i know what ya mean, i felt the same way

i got into game design, i make 3d (mostly hard surface) models

(up the 13 piercings now, 4 tattoos, and white hair in dreads and no one gives me any s***! it's great)

anyway, before i did that i worked at art stores, book stores, shipping warehouses (i kinda bounced around a lot) but those kinda places usually don't care how ya dress long as you get everything done ;)
