Bhagvad Gita is a Hindu religious book.
It contains the teachings given by Lord Krishna to Arjun just before the battle between the Kauravas and the Pandavas started at Kurukshetra.

A Hindu religious book. It's a dialog between a Prince named Arjuna and the God Krishna right before the Prince rides into combat against members of his own family. Krishna shows Arjuna how his actions in the battle fit into the divine plan and reveals some of the fundamental teachings of Hinduism and why they're necessary.

It is a beautiful Hindu Poem, a religious text, that deals with Prince Arjuna who is about to go to war against half of his family. The god Krishna is his chariot driver but at this point Arjuna doesn't know that. Arjuna doesn't want to go to war and kill his friends and revered family. Arjuna freezes time and they go into dialogue. My favorite part is when Krishna gives Arjuna "divine eyes" so Arjuna can see Lord Krishna as he truly is. Arjuna is so overcome with awe of his beauty and fear of his magnitude he begs Krishna to take back the eyes.
The bookstores sell modern English translations, I hope you get to read it. I have my copy right here on my desk.
