In what other ways is religion being forced upon you? Aside from the obvious influence religion has on politics and the like, would any other situation conflict with you? Lets say for instance a Jewish man walked by you wearing his yalmulka, would that be religion being forced upon you? Iam just curious, and as always I respect everyones right to believe what they wish. Thanks :)

JK, I assume you are a smart person right? Now would a Christian or a Muslim or any believer trust a Atheist, of course not!!! People like you are fools to these "polls." With much respect of you, Arnold. Also iam a Christian.

Politics are a big deal. A Jewish man wearing his Yalmulka would not be forcing religion on me. Neither would be a Christian woman wearing a cross.
But when a Christian comes knocking on your door in the morning to try to convert you, then yes, that is religion being forced on you.
When a fundalmentalist comes to a funeral with a sign that trash talks about your dead loved one, then that is religion being forced on you.

According to a recent poll in the United states, atheists are less trusted than muslims or ex-convicts.
Many people believe that you can't be moral without believing in some sort of supernatural diety.
Religion is everywhere and these types of assumptions are not only wrongheaded but often lead to things like: "Aside from the obvious influence religion has on politics"
The latter being one of the more dumbass comments I've heard in a while, although I certainly respect everyone's right to be a dumbass on occasion.

Religion is forced on an unwilling populace in many ways.
Our children are expected to pledge their allegiance to a nation that is ruled by God. It isn't.
Creationism is floated as science for our textbooks. It isn't.
Our money says that we trust God. We don't.
Our president says he hears God. We tell him he's a liar, but it doesn't matter. Thousands of people are dead.
Medical advances that could save living people are thwarted because God would be angry. It's not true.
My friends are told that they are denied the benefits of a civil marriage because they are the same gender, and God will be mad. It's not true.

Nope, wearing your symbols in public isn't forcing anything on me, unless you deny me equal rights - say to wear a T-shirt that says "Religion is bunk."
If you tell me I cannot do something, say sleep with a woman and pay her for it or drink certain days or times, things I've never heard argued without someone's religious beliefs being at the core, then you are forcing religion on me. If your chuch pays no property taxes but receives services from government, you are stealing from me.

Politics, schools, government. ANY instance of forced religion is too much.
A Jewish man wearing a yarmulke is practicing his own faith, and not making himself a nuisance. If he preached that *I* should wear one too (something that Jews would never do), then he'd be crossing the line.

Religion is embedded in most societies whether is is refered to on the currency or in the national anthem or symbolically in many national flags.
Public holidays are often related to religion.

The harassment my daughter and I received at the hands of her fundie teacher and other students families. Our phone number was passed out by the teacher. I had to go before the school officials to get the calls and harassment stopped. Just one example.

"Aside from the obvious influence religion has on politics and the like,..."
That's not enough??? Well, that's more than enough for me, but when "the like" is referring to teaching mythology in the science class... that is crossing the line!
Religion permeates our society... It's everywhere.
Atheists could not Possibly be elected to high public office in our current atmosphere.
That bugs me.

actually the only thing that bothers me is the laws that have no other value than to promote a religious morality on me-my favorite example is the illegality to purchase alcohol on a sunday here-is there any basis for that other than to enforce a religious code on me-----just my thoughts----smile and enjoy the night
