You should get ink that means something to you. And since you want it on the back of your neck, you've got to be comfortable with people seeing it.
Most people normally get some fancy writing of a loved one or even a birth date, etc; a basic tribal tattoo or just a cute little picture almost as "eye candy".
I would suggest you look on http://tattoodesignparlor.com and join the membership to the tattoo gallery they offer. It will give you a lot of ideas for back of the neck tattoos - most importantly what works and what doesn't.
Hope this helps & Enjoy your ink!

I have a barcode on the back of my neck. I know that it is not a new thing, but that is what I wanted. My suggestion is this. Find something that you like and print it out. Tape it up next to your mirror. Look at it every single day for a couple of weeks. If you still like it after that then get it. My suggestion would be a five pointed star. Not inverted.

Making a decision on what to have tattooed is a very personal one, although I understand why you are trying to get ideas.
My suggestion is first, to be sure you want one - without even thinking about the design, think about why you would want a tattoo to begin with. Once you have that issue cleared up, and you really do want one, then establish what you want as a design.
While looking through flash designs or pictures of other people's tattoos are fine for inspiration, the most gratifying tattoos are always those that are thought out and are of a personal nature.
Sometimes it helps deciding first on whether you are attracted to color or black and gray work. Then think about all the things a tattoo could represent such as a special moment in your life.
You can bring your ideas to a professional artist but it is best to have some things on paper for him/her to work with, even if it is several different pictures that you want blended into one.

Something somewhat small, but meaningful.Since you will have it for the rest of your life, I feel it should mean something to you.You might want to look through some tattoo books or websites to get ideas.Although, the most common tattoos I have seen on the back of a neck are: stars, and names.
Good luck!

i dont want to sound mean, but tattoos are permanent and you should really put some serious thought into yours. dont do what is cool at the time, in a few years the fad will die out and youll be left with an ugly memory of what was once cool instead of something meaningful to you.
