I agree, if you hint at Christianity in your question or answer you get slammed or thumbs down, or somebody makes a joke, people just do it to start an argument or get a rise out of you.
I see people saying there are jokes about athiest on here, I have yet to see one. Also the asker is not wrong of the use of the word ignorant, it applies hear, because people make jokes because of their lack of knowledge about Christianity.

This is well-put. 'Well-put indeed.
There exists a viciousness in so many societies and found the world over nowadays, which seems particularly extensive in the USA since it is the closest to the model of a free society. But our callousness or "ignorance" pales in comparison to what ensues in other countries, wherein the exchange of words is the least concern. As you do know, in these other countries, things fall to outright wars and long-lived hatreds.
Unfortunately or not, in the USA people 'do' have the rights -- and each presumes this to be so. It is a given, intuitively present in the very reflex. Call it gratuity or even arrogance.
What is more on point, however, just maybe is to ask -- do they have the privilege? This one facet it would appear is ever tried and tested at other points on the global map.
Of course, this thing of privilege I suppose too would cause tremendous, gut-wrenching debate that may ensue into the wee hours of the nights and on into the next days.
Well, don't let it stir you up too much. After a while, I am convinced that you will grow an even thicker skin to resonate with and match your keen sensibilities. Hold your ground no matter what. This I would say to anyone regardless of one's path and choice. Such is to be respected, not violated.

Humor is considered one of the highest forms of intelligence. Still there is ignorance, but that and the jokes are often unrelated.
Do you just close your eyes when you see Christian comments that are patronizing, condescending, judgmental, or unintelligent? There are plenty of stupid visitors representing Christianity as well as atheism. Of course, not every person from the other religions are intelligent, but participants of other religions visit Y!A in fewer numbers.

I agree with you on this, even though I don't share your religious views. You have to admit it is a two way thing, because many times Christians have verbally attacked me, and just made themselves look like idiots. I don't understand why we can't just leave each other alone.

I would like to point out that I have seen a good deal of atheist-bashing from "compassionate" Christians, so it has really dissolved into a "touch-last" game.
yes, i would like a serious discussion about faith and spiritually, but i do not think it can be done here

I'm a Christian and will say that both sides make fun of each other. I make jokes occasionally, because to take religion too seriously is what makes people go blow themselves up in market places.

I think this forum is a good thing. Even though they respond in mockery, just one question or answer has caught their attention for even a moment. That small mustard seed might have been planted by your very question.
Don't be provoked by their responses, be inspired by how many respond...even Jesus asked God to forgive those who spat upon him...don't give-up...

it's a sad thing yes.. but not much can be done about it. people will throw ignorant trash and when confronted about it will throw even more. weak arguements follow weak ideas. everyone's just a suck hole that believes everything given to them.

There's just as many Christians making jokes as their are Atheists. It's not a one-sided battle. Unless you think people like Frank are actually trying to have a reasonable discussion.
